What (DW) are you currently watching? (Part 2)

Two stinkers in a row.

I’d put L&M fourth of Series 2. Below School Reunion, Fireplace, and the Satan two-parter. Yes, above Ghosts/Doomsday.

Decided to rewatch Orphan 55 and yep, it was just as bad as when I watched it a couple of years ago…… and when I watched it on release…..

Wrapped Nightmare of Eden last night continuing my classic rewatch, and gotta say I love this serial.

From the space liner pilot out of his gourd on the highly addictive and deadly drug vraxoin from the start, to the space crash and then numerous mini-catastrophes kicking off around the space liner, it just grabbed me and kept me hooked till the end.

Loved the monsters, loved the mosnters dissolving into crack, and their appearing in the hole cut in the wall - and the whole recording a zoo idea, quite similar to another earlier, favourite serial of mine, Carnival of Monsters.

I got stuck halfway through that one. Need to continue it sometime.

I’m just about halfway through at the moment actually…

The Web is honestly the ā€œif you can get through this, you can get through the whole thingā€ episode.

ā€œSoon, dryfoot, you will wish you had died on the Stone of Bloodā€ is, somehow, not a quote from The Stones of Blood.
Anyway, watching The Power of Kroll, which I expected to be incredibly dull, and it is dull, but because of the expectation I had going into it I’m gladly surprised to see it’s much less dull than The Space Pirates! Hurray for a comparison to be proud of!

Yeah, The Web is definitely a low point. Although you do get to see what Miles Fothergill (SV7) looks like out of the Robot of Death outfit.

(His photo on TARDIS wiki is even from that story!

I’m going to try going through War Games tonight. Kinda dreading it because I was having so much fun with Two’s run that I kinda didn’t want to finish it.

Finished The Wheel in Space tonight and did indeed up my rating from 2/5 to 3/5. I don’t usually like slow stories and I’ve struggled with Season 5 a lot on this rewatch but something about this one just sort of clicked this time round. I really liked the characters and the way this ā€˜crazy base commander’ was handled. Gemma Corwyn’s death is also really well done with her sacrificing herself to save everyone else and the Doctor impotently watching it happen on the screen. I think if more of this story existed, fans would rate Anne Ridler much more as a favourite guest star.

I’m going to be really ā€˜fannish’ next and rather than going on to The Dominators I’m going to do The Evil of the Daleks again because it was repeated here but as part of the narrative (with the Doctor weaving his thoughts into a story). But I’m not sure how to do it. I think I’ll poll it and let you lot decide for me .

Doctor Who’s first real comparable hurdle I’d say is The Sensorites

Just watched the crimson horror. I’ve never really cried to an episode but holy. The scene were the doctor comes back to Ada and she is calling him her monster it’s just beautiful. And the mother’s death holy guacamole! She fell an insane height and hit so much that was a terrible fall. AND AHE LIVED! SHE JUST HAD TO FEEL THAT AND THEN DIE ON THE FLOOR. absolutely wild
