It’s personally my favorite xmas special, and I love the horror aspect of it and ‘‘The Kantrofarri’’ they’re so scary in that episode, also conflict between Clara and 12 is great, wbu?
I like it. It’s one of my favorite Christmas specials. Clara and the Doctor are great. The dream within a dream within a dream, etc is good. The main thing I dislike is the dream about Danny. It’s a bit weird.
It’s a great episode!
I just thought that the fake-out with Clara at the end would only have worked if she actually did leave then, like it was planned. As she didn’t leave, that should have been rewritten.
Other than that, a great episode.
My 3rd fave Xmas special My only criticism is what Shauny said
I do like it a lot, it’s definitely one of my favorites when it comes to the Christmas specials (but then again I don’t like most of them, so not sure if that’s saying much-
I do think the Episode can be a bit messy, but really not that messy, still very enjoyable!
Personally, I’m not a fan of this one. The vibes just feel off to me. One of my least favorite ones, but I’m glad other people enjoy it
Absolutely love it, it sits alongside a christmas carol for my favourite christmas specials, like the more alternative sibling to the old timey classic. It hits both horror and the whimsy of christmas perfectly which I think must be really hard to do. Such a creative concept to have Santa integrated to the layers of dreams, I see no fault to it personally
Absolutely adore this Christmas special, though I might be a tad biased. I prefer A Christmas Carol over it, but it’s a close second. The are we in a dream trope works so well for this episode that I got faked out constantly by it. I think if this episode was actually Clara’s last episode, it would be fine, though It would be a shame to miss out on series 9 as we know it. I think there is a sad horror in the idea that the Doctor can just accidentally miss someone’s entire life.
I love this episode. I think it would benefit from being Clara’s last story, but I am not willing to give up Season 35, so I won’t hold it against the story. The layers of dreams, especially the manuals in the base, work so well.
I think there’s a lot of fun to be had with this one, but I quite dislike that there’s no real ‘solution’ to ‘defeating’ the monsters and that around halfway, the longer it goes on, instead of having more fun with it and going deeper, the simpler the story becomes. So at the end you just have the same loop of waking up, oh it’s still a dream and the rest of the episode is reduced to that.
