What are your favorite episodes in Series 14?

I loved Rogue because A) it’s unapologetically and explicitly queer, and 2 - it’s just so goddamn fun!

Legend of Ruby Sunday is still my fave of the season though I think. …Even if I really don’t like its part 2…

Kinda love Legend ngl… the build up to the reveal was insanely good and I adore the cliffhanger so much. I’m gutted if anything that RTD gave the game away re: Sutekh.

My thoughts exactly! I love the reveal and I love the genuine boiling of tension for 40+ minutes as you know something will go wrong but not what…

And then Empire of Death burns that away lol

Also as much as I adore the cliffhanger, I kinda wish they incorporated the beginning of Empire with everyone dying into it somehow. Imagine how the Sutekh reveal would’ve shocked us if RTD hadn’t mentioned bloody Poirot!!

I may be alone in this opinion but I genuinely think that The Legend of Ruby Sunday was the best this season had to offer. The only episode that felt genuinely like a return of RTD; the character interactions actually felt genuine, there was excellent pace and whilst it is undeniably camp and ridiculous, the reveal really got me first time around.

I’m so glad someone else thinks this!

I tend to think of two parters collectively, so Legend will always be let down by Empire. Legend was the better part, but I think still not without issue though.

I usually do but I’m consciously thinking elsewise just this once

My top two favorites were Dot and Bubble and Rogue! I really enjoyed the concept of the bubble and how the story progressed, the visuals, and Ncuti’s incredible performance at the end. I’m still thinking about that episode. And Rogue to follow was lovely - I wanted more of the Doctor and Ruby again. I was invested the whole time, really enjoyed the chemistry between the Doctor and Rogue, and loved the cosplaying! Really solid episode!

I also loved Boom, 73 Yards, and the Legend of Ruby Sunday. Boom had me on edge the whole time. 73 Yards did things Doctor Who hasn’t done in a while, or just hasn’t really done at all before! I loved it for that. And the Legend of Ruby Sunday was classic RTD finale vibes and tension.

I didn’t vibe completely with The Church on Ruby Road. Something about the overall feel felt off to me. It was okay.

I thought Space Babies was okay. I don’t knock it as much as some people do. The Devil’s Chord was likely my biggest let-down of the season - though I’ve come more around to it upon re-watch. Jinx Monsoon was incredible, I loved Ruby playing her theme on piano. I wanted more of the Beatles as active participants in the story. The time-skip and then the Doctor running away from Maestro towards the beginning felt off. And of course the “twist at the end”… Oof.

Empire of Death… Listen, it was decent. Not bad. It had missed opportunities. A few scenes I think they shouldn’t have cut. Not all of it added up the way we expected or wanted it to. BUT - I still enjoyed it. After all the build up about Ruby’s mum, I honestly do like that she was an ordinary person. I love the reunion scene. I love how much we get Mel to be part of the story. The remembered TARDIS. Hell, even Sutekh dragged through the time vortex was great! I just think it was missing some connective tissue that would’ve made it work better. I also was let down by not having his granddaughter Susan come back after she’s mentioned throughout the season and hinted at.

Overall, my thoughts on Series 14 is that it’s a good season but somewhat lacking at its tail ends.

Sitting on Series 14 for a while and it’s definietly one of my least favorite Series of the revived Show sadly.
Picked Boom & Dot and Bubble out of the Choices. I do think 73 Yards is strong but falls off when we get to the political Part of the Story, which could work, but really didn’t and felt a bit wonky.
Boom is a bit standard Moffat but still very enjoyable since well standard Moffat is still great.
And ‘Dot and Bubble’ is easily RTD’s best 15th Doctor Episode, I think, great World Building.
As for the others:
I really like Church
Devils Chord exist but fails for me on various Places (but I am starting to grow some fondness for Maestro, even if I wish they were in a better Story).
Rogue doesn’t do much for me as somebody who isn’t really into Doctor Romances and just feels burnout by them. That said, explicit queer representation is great!! And I am happy to see people love it.
Legend of Ruby Sunday, I liked at first but the more I thought about it the more I dislike it (It’s quite literal Build Up for a disappointing Finale, which kinda can’t stand on its own at all).
And Empire of Death really doesn’t do it for me.
Oh, and I thought Space Babies was okay, I just didn’t like the Humor in it, if they replaced it, it would have worked much better for me. Don’t get why it’s seen as the worst one by many, honestly.
Love Ncuti and Millie tho!
