A few weeks ago, I finished Victorian Psycho by Virginia Feito, which is probably now my third favorite book. The protagonist is a Victorian governess that’s also a serial killer, and it was a hilarious and fast-paced good time.
Just finished Original Sin. Lovely VNA! From the few I read, this definitely ranks highly for me!
Hoping to hop back into the PDAs and read some of those in the next few Weeks!
Now reading Iris Wildthyme and the Celestial Omnibus, the first of the obverse anthologies. A lot of fun so far, Iris and Panda really are a great duo
Today I read Doctor Who and the Auton Invasion.
A really fun retelling of the superb serial
My god, The Mary-Sue Extrusion isn’t getting any better. I’m sure there are people who enjoy reading Dave Stone’s writing stylings but I’m not one of them.
I’m nearly halfway through and Bernice has only appeared once and it wasn’t even actually her.
Working my way through Extraction Point from Dooms Day right now, having fun with it. I was a huge reader as a kid, but lost my way and now I struggle to read as fast/often.
That being said, are there any shorter Who stories anyone would recommend?
The Short Trips! I will always recommended the Short Trips, the BBC books (especially Side Steps) and my beloved Big Finish Short Trips! Absolutely love those books, there as so many gems in there and they’re great to dip in and out of.
I’ll have to check them out!!
Agreed with Side Steps and Short Trips. I also like the Farewells collection.
The Centenarian is an excellent big Finish Short Trips collection.
Dave Rudden’s anthologies are great.
Like many have already pointed out the Prose Short Trips are great (usually) and the Dave Rudden anthologies are a nice read as well! There is also that one Anthology released around the lockdown time which I find a nice short Read and of course other Corners from Who have their own Short stories such as the one from Benny or Iris, if you want to keep it with big finish Characters
Oh yeah, seconding this, Adventures in Lockdown is lovely
I’m working my way through Lucifer Rising. Surprisingly, it’s a bit of a whodunit on a space station, and not quite as out there as some of the earlier ones.
After a long hiatus on Doctor Who - months, maybe half a year during which I barely read, watched or listening to anything. Barely being the keyword - I began reading Time and Relative from the Telos Novelas.
That’s part of my chronogical-ish journey through (not all but) most of Doctor Who. It’s also the last one on the solo Susan stories. Read half the book already, may finish it tonight. At max tomorrow.
Finished it. Have lots of thoughts but I’ll let it rest a bit before putting them on paper.
After finishing two Titanic reads, I’ve decided to check off another DW novel on my to-read list. I’ve opted for State of Change.
Started Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Sphinx by Max McCoy last night. It’s set in 1934 and starts with Indy finding Chinese Emperor Qin’s tomb before being captured by the Imperial Japanese army and then hunting a missing magician and the Staff of Aaron and the Omega Book hidden beneath the Great Sphinx. So far it’s a quick read and a lot of fun.
Just finished Chapter 13 of Rose, and god, the twist with the second Mickey duplicate, subverting expectations from the story and giving reason why the nestene knew about the antiplastic, especially with The Doctor ‘winning’ up until that, it’s a great change to the story and I absolutely adore that
Finished reading “Star Tales” yesterday.
Overall it’s a rather mediocre collection of short stories. For me the best of the six stories was definitely the story about Amelia Earhart, “Chasing the Dawn” by Jenny T. Colgan. It had a really nice premise and method of storytelling.
And then I’ve read about a quarter of the “The Witchfinders” novelisation by Joy Wilkinson which is shaping up really nicely
