I love the ‘Like a Dragon’ franchise, so I have convinced myself to start ‘Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise’, even though I have never read the manga.
Fans insist on it being a spin-off, because it has the same voice cast and general gameplay style.
Tried Not for Broadcast tonight. Thanks for the game @shauny. It is great!
The only reason I stopped is that my poor laptop can’t take that much. It got stuck after 1.5hrs lol. Glad that it did, though. I’ve an early morning and the play-through would take 8.5hrs. The controller settings are a little bit confusing, but I like to be able to sit back while playing. Just to get the screen a few inches further from my poor eyes
It reminds me of Orwell, which I played on my train ride back home. But I just need to enjoy the story for that one. This… Oh gosh this game had me listening to the English audio, reading the Chinese sub, checking at least 4 screens simultaneously, watching out for swear words, and considering what ad to put on. I don’t think my mind was processing the plot. What a shame. The most I can manage irl is to order a cup of milk tea while listening to BF. And it had to be a relisten so as not to have to rewind the whole 30 seconds afterwards.
Played some Ark: Survival Evolved this morning during breakfast.
I’m currently playing Atro Bot on PS5 which is brilliant, but requires me to not be to not be slightly ill and tired.
I am also halfway through Doki Doki Literature Club and haven’t quite worked out the point of it yet.
It’s a lot, isn’t it?
I can’t imagine doing it in a second language!!
I played it in VR as well, that was insane.
Maybe you need to play some games you think he’ll like first and see what is his response is to watching you play.
Also, if he likes park building sims, I’d recommend Jurassic World Evolution 2.
Love to see this thread here!
Beat the Persona 3 Reload DLC yesterday. And currently bouncing between Ace Attorney Investigations and Apollo Justice (replaying both).
Played some Ark: Survival Evolved today.
Been playing Pokemon Scarlet recently! I’m really loving it. I had heard lots of criticism around it’s release, and being somewhat disappointed by Sword/Shield, I avoided this one until now. It’s got some issues, but the overall gameplay loop and number of things to do is really satisfying. Love seeing Pokemon in the overworld everywhere!
Played some more single-player Ark Survival Evolved. If anyone else plays Ark, I wouldn’t be opposed to potentially joining a Tardis Guide tribe on an Ark server. (Note that this is the original Survival Evolved, not the new Survival Ascended.)
Played some Co-op portal 2, and now playing some Stardew
Played more Ark. Close to finishing my base. Then it’s breeding time.
My first emulated game
I’m going to find it hard to believe that the remake will top it
Now that’s a great horror game.
3’s just as good in my opinion, if not as emotionally damaging.
Currently playing Assassin’s Creed: Unity and boy I forgot that these games are really bad at pure-stealth missions.
I’ve been playing Dark Souls on and off recently (have to keep stopping because I am really bad at it) so I might go play a bit more of that after I’ve finished with Assassin’s Creed.
I’ve won Dark Souls I/II/III, though I skipped most of the DLC, and I’m definitely not good at them, so if there’s anything particular you’re getting stuck on, I might be able to give some advice.
There are also some things Dark Souls 1 doesn’t explain well, like kindling and humanity.
I’m personally thoroughly willing to cheese bosses. I never actually beat the Capra Demon in a fair fight since I learned how to cheese him…
Started a new run of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. I last played a large chunk in summer 2022. It’s not terrible, but I do think it’s the worst of the Layla trilogy.
For anyone curious, when I say I’m not good at the Dark Souls games… I’ve played hundreds of hours in all of them.
The thing is that I tend to create a new character, play them for a while, get distracted by something else, and then, next time I’m back at that particular game, I create a new character.
This does mean I know the first half of each game pretty well.
Beating them was actually me deciding to go through each in turn and stick to a character and see that character through until I won.
There are some mechanics of the games I’m not great at, though. Parrying especially. I tend to end up not even using shields much. I’m not particularly great at not being hit, either. I’ve just mostly gotten good enough at the rest of the game(s) to compensate…
I enjoyed trying Dark Souls games (and other Souls-likes) but ultimately I get so frustrated that I quit. I’m not a fan of doing the same thing over and over, I’m far too impatient for that!
I did bounce off of them a few times before they clicked and I got into them. Also, I change my build when replaying so that I’m playing different styles.
And, as I said, I cheese some of the bosses. If I’m going up to the Capra demon, I buy a bunch of bombs and make sure I have a bow, aim the bow at one spot from outside the fog gate to get the angle right, then chuck firebombs right over the fog into the arena until the boss dies without me having to face it one on one.
DS 2, I’m always causing the Dragon Rider to just accidentally fall to his death.
I used to do a cheese with Margit in Elden Ring that would freeze him in place for the whole fight, but you have to die to him once first, and I usually kill him that first time these days (partially because I usually pick up a ghost summon for the rotten stray dogs first, and they inflict scarlet rot on him)…
