Was at a nice pause point in The Hobbit. Listened to the newest Patreon episode of the Doctor’s Beard podcast and have now started The Bellotron Incident (Bernice Summerfield 4.1).

I found the time to listen to Fever Island and what a fun audio it was too. Onto The Perfect Prisoners 1 next

1957: Double Agent, again, was nothing special. Obviously you don’t know when buying but I sort of wish I hadn’t bothered with this set in hindsight.

Got through a lot of the 3DAs today whilst playing Pokemon LeafGreen for the first time - you forget how much harder these earlier gens can be until you play them, blimey!

The Return of Jo Jones set was a solid four stars - as in, I rated every story four stars. All around really solid. I’m not usually a fan of the ‘old companion now returns and starts travelling with an old doctor again after they leave’ trope but it was done in such a heartfelt way here I just have to like it.

Prisoners of the Lake… was not four stars. Or three. Truth be told it barely scraped the rating I gave it, an entirely too long story with jarring narration and very little to say. Only listened to it to get it over with as I tried and failed about a month ago.

Relistened to the skin of the sleek because frankly I was not in a mental state to properly appreciate it yesterday and then continued on with the thief who stole time. Lalla Ward is excellent and thinking about Romana’s childhood just breaks my heart.

I quite enjoyed Prisoners of the Lake - gave it 3/5.

Just finished The Bellotron Incident. I rather enjoyed it. I accidentally spoiled myself on the Rutan Benny twist while looking at the wiki within the last couple weeks. On the the other hand, I entirely missed that Bev Tarrant is in this.

I love Bev <3 <3

I don’t find The Bellotron Incident particularly inspiring but she’s such a wonderful addition to the team, especially in the books.

And I just think she’s fine. I thought she sounded too much like Ace in her previous appearance.

it captured the vibes of the pertwee era really well, sure… but unfortunately it got the forgettable half rather than the fun half, imo

I’m going to continue listening to the The Savages audiobook and if I have the time, I’ll probably start on Caerdroia.

Got going on The Contingency Club - good stuff so far. A mysterious gentlemen’s club run by a mysterious benefactor - all very Doctor Who.

Sisters of the Flame
I really hate Lucie Miller, and spending 90% of a story stuck with her is not something I want to do.
Oh well, at least it’s nearly Morbin’ time.

I recently realised that I have far too many Big Finish stories that I have scooped up in sales and then never listened to, so I’m going to make a concerted effort to get through some of those before buying anything else. First up, Gallifrey. I bought the first season years ago but can’t seem to get into it. I keep listening to the first story and then losing interest. As people here are so enthusiastic about this series I’m inspired to take another run at it.

Just get into series 2, I know that’s not particularly inspiring to say but s1 does grow on you and the series does get more addictive

Finished the The Savages audiobook. It’s the exact same story, but a little less effective. Still prefer the missing recon version. Peter Purves makes it worth it, though.

Also listened to the first half of Caerdroia and what an interesting adventure that is!
