After much soul-searching and deep discussions amongst staff, we’re thrilled to announce that TARDIS Guide is no more! We’re officially rebranding to K9 Guide, your ultimate resource for the greatest sci-fi spinoff of all time: the 2009 Australian kids’ TV sensation, K9!
Why the change? Well, after years of covering Doctor Who, we realized we were barking up the wrong time vortex. The real future of sci-fi fandom lies with a robot dog battling alien crocodiles in a show that aired for exactly one season and was never released on DVD in most countries.
What’s Changing?
The Database Overhaul – Say goodbye to all that pesky Doctor Who content! Going forward, our TV database will exclusively focus on the 26 glorious episodes of K9. Each episode will be analyzed in unprecedented detail, complete with production trivia, in-depth reviews, and a comprehensive alien-of-the-week ranking.
Audios, books, and comics will be lazer-focused to only include those that feature the tin dog!
The Forum Upgrade – The forum is now in the process of being rebranded, and removing all that Time Lord chat. It will become a space for all your K9-related theories, debates, and fanfic. The only badge you can earn will be the “Affirmative!” badge, which is granted for rating all of K9.
The various Clubs will be reworked (Sorry @DarthGallifrey, you’re going to need to redo your schedules again!) to feature all-K9, all the time! TV club will of course be restarted with K9 season 1 episode 1 (Regeneration), and also a special TV Club Extra where we watch and rewatch A Girl’s Best Friend!
The audio, book, and comic clubs will be changed so we only discuss episodes that prominently feature the metal mutt. Watch this space.
The Ratings System – No more traditional stars! All stories will now be rated in Good Doggos (1-5).
The New Recommendation Engine – Our AI-driven recommendation engine will soon launch and will suggest K9 episodes based on your favorite K9 episodes. If you’ve only ever seen Doctor Who, don’t worry—our new system will gently guide you toward enlightenment.
What About Classic Doctor Who Content?
Don’t worry! It’s all still there. We’re simply in the process of moving it to a small, easily overlooked subpage called “Legacy Content,” accessible via a hyperlink hidden somewhere in the footer. Happy hunting!
Of course there are Doctor Who stories that feature K9, and we will still be able to discuss the origin of the character, but I think we can all agree that the purest form of K9 has those adorable bunny ears!
We know this is a big shift, but we truly believe K9 deserves his moment in the spotlight. Thank you all for sticking with us through this regeneration—we promise, the best is yet to come!
