Thought it’d be nice to have a thread to discuss this range. I’m considering delving into it myself, so wondered what people’s thoughts were on it!
So far there’s been 2 sets, Seabird One and Visitants, both released in 2022. Next month is series 3, Fractures, and there’s another due next March!
I loved loved LOVED these releases! They had such 90s SF vibes which was so fun, and I ADORE Bambera. I really am due a relisten before the next box, I don’t think there was a single story I disliked
Also a big fan of this range & so glad we are getting more. When it was announced I instantly remembered Bambera. The character made a memorable impact on me, I actually thought she was in more than one story from the Classic era.
I have the first boxset but haven’t got around to listening to it yet. I do love me a bit of Brigadier Winifred Bambera though. Shame!

Rogue State: this series is SOOO good. This episode is very introductory, setting the scene and the characters up, but it’s still good I love Bambera having beef with everyone and being grumpy af <3 I also am very fond of Dame Lydia though if I recall correctly she’s the one who betrays them all? I love how the vibes of this are a little bit X Files and that kind of iconic 90s/00s SF series that are very character driven and a bit gritty. Soundtrack? Excellent. Characters? Excellent. YAYY
Need to do another listen for a quotes run also because Bambera has the best quips <3
Every time I read a new audio-related post on here, it makes me want to push something up my to-listen to list. Could we please stop doing this?
This definitely is on my radar… ever since the cameo in UNIT Nemesis I’ve been even more intrigued! Are the original characters as good as always when it comes to BF oc’s?

[1] she and Bambera are so wonderful, both a bit fighty, both clearly determined to prove themselves at what they do, neither quite trusting the other but there’s a begruding respect, an acceptance that they’re useful to each other. Also there are so many gross caterpillar noises. so many

Rogue State, relistening to this range is going to be fun. This feels like a pilot episode for the 90s UNIT spin-off we never got on telly. Angela Bruce is just perfect again as Bambera, so delightfully grumpy with everyone but also has her own demons to deal with - a fully rounded character. She focuses on getting the job done, when she gives you an order you better damn well obey. & she loves coffee & cheap chocolate, Mars bars I reckon.
This is a very visual audio, the score & sound design captures mid-90s telly so well. It’s so energetically paced, if I’d watched this back in the 90s I’d have been excited for the next episode. & it would have ended on a freeze frame of the characters as the end credits roll.

just realised I completely misread what you put earlier, I read it as Rachel/Allison/Bambera[1] but you are right. Leela and Allison are both forever loves to me, but honestly I think Sarah Jane is actually the third member of my trinity as far as loves go[2]. As far as the ‘women I’m obsessed with to the point of derangement’ trinity, yeah. Maybe Bambera haha
It’s so so 90s in the best way right!! All the characters in this series feel so well realised, and I love that they’ve gone forward with Bambera being a no nonsense grump instead of softening her out <3
