Top tier, for sure. For me, it’s 2, 3, 4, and 12, not necessarily in that order. Even in stories a bit more meh, Capaldi is worth the price of admission alone.

I think only Pertwee has a more consistently good run of episodes. I’d say there’s a grand total of 3 Capaldi episodes I don’t like.

Bit surprised there wasn’t a general Discussion Thread for 12 already, but hey better later than never! I do love 12 a lot, while he has been falling a bit down in my personal ranking, his Era of the Revival is filled with so many Stories I like! I do genuinely think Series 10 is the best of the Revival, Episode wise there isn’t really a bad one (I do usually try to seperate Twice from it since my Thoughts on Twice are complicated to put it nicely). Series 9 is also a strong one, don’t care too much for Sleep No More (I appreciate what it’s going for, but it’s a bit of a meh one for me) and the Opener Two-Parter isn’t particularly to my Taste, the Rest? I do quite like. Series 8 is probably the only one with a few stinkers, but then again it’s the same Series with Mummy, Flatline, Deep Breath and lots more! Just speaking of his TV Run, easily my favorite of the Revival.
He himself is also just great, Capaldi is such a good one, and I am always thrilled with him, even in Episodes I don’t care or like, he is usually pretty good. Probably does help that I overall really like his Characterization and am quite fond of his Arc. Not to mention how well he works off with all of his Companions. Clara is of course pretty much he is a definitive Companion, him & Jenna are just soo good together. Bill & 12 are great as well, very different Chemistry but an equally great one and while Nardole is not as good as either of them, I do quite enjoy him, especially when Bill comes along.
I will say his EU so far has sadly not impressed all that much, don’t get me wrong it’s not bad or anything, but a lot of it just feels very fine. There is of course the Dudman Audios, which are solid, but don’t quite work for me (Dudman is a great Actor, but his 12 takes me out of the Experience quite a bit), the Titan Run of his hasn’t impressed me all that much either. There was one excellent one in there, that still sticks out to me, but most of it is more fine than anything else. But that’s more of a Side Note. As it is, I still very much love Twelve’s Era, in particular on TV, such a good one!

My favourite Doctor, by a pretty considerable distance - the only other who even comes close is Eight. I love Twelve, I love his era (I don’t even mind Kill the Moon and In the Forest of the Night), I love his companions, I really only have good things to say about him. I think for me, he’s the incarnation who comes closest to embodying the entirety of “The Doctor” as a character - he’s alien and yet human, he’s empathetic and kind and yet aloof and rude, he’s romantic, he’s funny, he’s grumpy, he just runs the whole gamut of different Doctor tropes and ties them all together in one fantastically written and acted package. I know Peter Capaldi is very on the record that’s he’s not interested in reprising the role at all, and I really hope he changes his mind on that someday, but even if he doesn’t, I think he has the best run as the character on TV, and he, Jenna Coleman, Pearl Mackie and Steven Moffat will always be some of my favourite people to grace the show with their work across series 8 to 10.
