Iris Wildthyme first appearing in ( Doctor Who wise at least) short trip Old Flames where she claims she’s a old flame of the Doctor. Since then she has met several other incarnations and has had a series of her own with books, audios(played by Katy Manning) and soon to also include a comic. She travels in a red London double decker bus that’s smaller on the inside most notably with Panda who is well a Panda.

My auntie Iris <3 I love and adore her more than I can say. I know she’s too grating and wacky for some but I lovelovelove her. I listen to the audios all the time to go to sleep to, they’re such a comfort to me
I’ve listened to most of her audios and loved them even though I can’t remember much because I’d listen to them when I was too tired to focus. They’re so wacky and fun
God I love Iris. My only exposure to her has been through her appearances in the Eighth Doctor Adventures books but I got attached to her so quickly
The Scarlet Empress (EDA book by Paul Magrs) was my first introduction to her and it’s weird, fantastical, and just a really fun book all round. I think it can stand alone without the other EDAs?
I also really enjoyed The Blue Angel, but that’s much harder to recommend Not in a bad way!, Iris is on top form as ever, but also knockoff Kirk and Spock are there and someone turns into a whale
A good part of her audio series is also free on Spotify, but you don’t use that
I haven’t really done any of her other stories yet (well I read old flames which was fun but that’s all) so I can’t speak for any other stuff of hers
My first experience with Iris was when WIldthyme Reloaded came out and I thought sure what the hell lets give this a go, and fell in love with her. I’ve only went back and heard her first audio series but I really need to hear the rest. I loved reloaded, the format works well for me too. Its a shame that it never amounted to further series.
I first encountered Iris in Excelis Dawns. I couldn’t stand her. She was too “High Energy” for me.
Plague Herds of Excelis was my second encounter with her. I rather enjoyed her in this one. She was less shouty, and more chill… well as chill as she can get.
I think for audio, I will always have a love/hate relationship with the character. It will all depend on how they portray her.
