Time of Angels / Flesh And Stone

Been wondering what people think of this cause the fan consensus is that the first part is great but 2nd part is kind of weak due to that last scene of 11 and Amy,and some people dislike that angels move like that,I personally think Time of Angels is 9/10 and Flesh and Stone is an 8/10,honestly a great story what does everyone else think?

Peak series 5.

But the twist in part one didn’t hit first time I watched because I was NOT paying attention to the two-headed Aplan thing, I was being a paranoid kid.

This two parter was one of the only Doctor Who discs I had as a kid too…and when I didn’t have a disc, I used to dream about it.

Honestly I don’t like either of the Episodes. :sob: I can see what they have going for them, but there are just plenty of Things, which rub me the wrong way (be it said Amy/11 Scene, some new Angel Ability and so on) with either of those. There are Things, which I do like here, but the lesser good outweighs the good for me here, sadly.
Glad some others really enjoy it!

I love these stories, probably my favourites from S5. Just hits all the right spots for me

s5 is my most beloved series I think, and though this story isn’t a favourite, I do love it. I think both parts are great and I think River is brilliant in it😍

The twist with the statues is one of the best in the show, because it’s staring you right in the face the entire episode, and when it’s revealed it’s a “How did I miss that?” moment.

I agree that part one is stronger, but neither of them are anywhere near bad.

There is never actually a fan consensus. Any such thing depends entirely on where those fans are and you are more than likely to find a different group of fans who think differently.

It’s a good two parter but the Graham Norton cut of it is better

These episodes are amazing, I have a soft spot for literally all stories with River in, and I think she’s great in this one. Seeing an Angel move onscreen is kind of annoying, but not the end of the world, and I don’t mind expanding on the lore of them from Blink – if anything I think they’re more scary in this story than their first one.

These two parters have a lot of what I like The image of an angel becomes an angel is a neat evolution of the Weeping Angels (though is never really used again), the trap scene is peak, sucking all the angels into the crack in time was great, and I really love the attention to detail with having the Doctor when talking to Amy be wearing his coat, to show that it’s actually the Doctor that travelled back in time from the end of the season.

As for the ending scene tbh I don’t let it detract from my enjoyment of the episode, I think it’s a bad scene, you think it’s a bad scene, Moffat thinks it’s a bad scene, everyone think’s it’s a bad scene, it’s a bad scene. Personally I don’t like it when people use the scene as justification for thinking Amy is a bad character, it’s very clearly a poorly written and out-of-character moment imo.

Pretty great two-parter, IMO. Adds to the Weeping Angels without ruining them (see: later Angel appearances). To say this is Matt Smith’s first story filmed, wow, he nails it from the off. Lots to enjoy. One of Moffat’s best.

Might be worth having a S5 discussion thread? :eyes: as opposed to multiple threads

I really love that scene when River asks something and then 11 is like
