I realised we didn’t have a topic about webcasts and minisodes.
Well, now we do!
Here’s the ones I watched today:
The Final Battle is an epic and intriguing Collection minisode, starring Leela fighting Daleks during the Time War. It’s very enjoyable, and good
fun.
The Passenger was another minisode released to tie in with the Collection box sets. This one features Tegan and Nyssa, who are great here.
Defenders of Earth! is also a Collection one, with a glorious Jo Grant, and two girls, who discover a cute baby Sea Devil!
The last of the Collection shorts I watched today was The Storyteller, which mostly uses clips from the First Doctor era, but has a lovely narration from Maureen O’Brien’s Vicki.
A bit of an oddity, Tia Kofi Visits the Time Fracture is fun enough, but I do wonder why this is on the guide, as it doesn’t actually seem to be made as a minisode, more as a simple promotional video for the Time Fracture experience.
Finally, I watched Born Again, which is a nice little scene dealing with the aftershocks of Nine’s regeneration into Ten. I recommend you watch it just to see David Tennant’s hair!
Not sure if this counts as a webcast (I don’t think it falls under any category really lol), but Death Comes to Time is a nice little 7th Doctor story, and a great introduction to the Minister of Chance
The minisode The Doctor’s Meditation is a prequel to The Magician’s Apprentice, and it’s great. Born again is of course an excellent one, as is Time Crash. The two prequels with the Paternoster Gang for The Snowmen are also pretty great. The two series 6 minisodes Space and Time are really fun as well. I don’t own any of the DVDs, so occasionally I still find ones on YouTube that are new to me.
I’ve seen a few minisodes and they range in quality. There’s a lot more minisodes than I thought there were. It feels like a new one keeps popping up every day. I don’t like The Doctor’s Mediation personally. It feels a bit detached from the actual episode itself. The Asylum of the Daleks prequel and She Said, He Said, a prequel for Name of the Doctor are good from what I remember. There’s probably more that I’ve seen but I can’t recall them atm.
