Yeah. I wasn’t familiar with the story before. It was a decent one.

Not to instill FOMO but it’s always a great experience watching Who communally.

The short chat with the animation team was great.

They were talking about how they’re doing their own things with the animations and not trying to make it look exactly as it would in the 60s

The person leading the animation team made a comment about how there’s differences with the mediums, and the only way to get it looking right would be to recreate it in live action, but how that’d come with it’s own set of problems (such as recasting actors).

The host made a joke about how you could instead use AI to make hyper realistic recreation of it so it’d look exactly as it did (prompting a round of laughter from the audience, and one person from the audience seemingly protesting against the joke, which I didn’t think much of at the time)

Watched Remembering Forgetting The Savages Documentary. Is this peak geek Doctor Who VAM? A 99 minute documentary about a story that no longer exists!

Warning to viewers: Peter Purves protesting profusely.

I’m halfway through this and am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would. I’m familiar with the story, having played the CD soundtrack version quite often. The animation is something I wasn’t particularly looking forward to. Even the cover of the Blu-ray doesn’t hold the illustrations in a particularly good light.

But it’s actually really good. The backgrounds are simplistic but effective, and many of the likenesses are spot-on. Jackie Lane’s likeness is particularly good, and the supporting cast looks pleasingly distinctive and individual.

I’ve come to really like latter-day Hartnell stories. From The Daleks Masterplan until The Tenth Planet, the stories are all strong and often quite experimental. Sadly of course, many don’t exist visually - but I’m looking forward to (hopefully) seeing animated versions of these more than I did before.

Right, the Doctor’s come a cropper at the end of episode two. I’m going to watch a bit more to make sure he’s alright and then perhaps raise a glass to Graham Strong, without whom …

Is it just me or does Steven not sound like Steven? Maybe I’m just so used to Peter Purves’ older voice now that hearing 60s Steven sounds strange to me

Nah, it’s actually Ian Levine who’s managed to sneak himself into the story…

I must get around to buying this release!

It’s what I’d call a ‘little’ Doctor Who story. The universe isn’t at stake, nothing like that, but it’s just great fun. A good slice of 60s nostalgia with some wonderful extras.

Watched this yesterday with a couple of friends who’ve only watched NewWho and it’s safe to say it was enjoyed by all of us, the documentary about remembering/forgetting The Savages was particularly interesting

Watched the Animation a while back, I do think it’s a solid one, especially due to its great underrated Story. The Animation itself has some big Highs and some big lows. The Character Animation is SUPERB, all our Character feel so smooth and fluid! The Backgrounds are a nice Change of a Pace here, even if I don’t like the rocky Backgrounds. The lightning from previous Releases is still very much missed.

Our beloved Member Josh Snares also shared an Opinion about the Animation, and I highly recommend watching the Video! Some great Points are brought up.

Really enjoyed this story! A tad too slow for my liking, but the concept was great and it was a fitting exit for Steven.
