The Rani books

I am currently in the mood to find and collect the Rani books from the 6th and 7th Doctor.

After doing research and cross referencing apparently these 3 books were part of the Rani appearance in the novelization but wanted to see if anyone had any advised that have read these and if I should get em.

  • Doctor Who: The Mark of the Rani (6th - Baker)

  • Doctor Who: State Of Change (apparently this is from ā€œThe Missing Adventuresā€ after mark of Rani) (6th - Baker)

  • Doctor Who: Time and the Rani (7th - McCoy)

Not sure if anyone is an avid reader of the old novelizations  but hope to find someone who can suggest on these.

I did the audiobook of the Mark of the Rani novelization and it was a fairly bland novelization tbh. A bit of stuff at the beginning that got cut from the episode and a little epilogue at the end but otherwise I remember it being a pretty straightforward novelization that doesn’t do anything to change or expand on the original story.

I haven’t yet gotten to State of Change but I believe I’ve seen @DispersalPhase speak pretty highly of it

I was so-so on State of Change. It wasn’t a fantastic book IMO but I liked some of Peri’s arc!

There’s also this one  but it’s a bit hard to get hold of:

I read State of Change several years ago (pre-Covid) and remember enjoying it.

I saw this one but thought it was (as the name suggests) a adventure reading game where you sort have to go through the chapters to figure out the story and have different endings. But if it’s like a regular book then I might add it to my list!

No, it is a choose your own adventure. It’s not a standard book.

The Rani appears in a couple other books.

She’s in Something Borrowed, the 6th Doctor Puffin short that appeared in the various x Doctors, x Stories books.

She’s in The Rani Reaps the Whirlwind, the novelization of the BBV audio of the same name. Haven’t read that, but not exactly impressed by the audio.

Yes, it’s one of my favorites! I really love what it does with Peri and with history. The Rani isn’t in a whole lot of the book, but she’s there
