The Fifth Doctor
Peter Davison
January 4, 1982 - March 16, 1984
The fifth incarnation of the Doctor (played by Peter Davison) is quiet, kinda bland and often seems to have hollow victories. Played by, at the time, the youngest actor to inhabit the role, the Fifth Doctor in part seems to be an anti-Fourth Doctor. While the Fourth Doctor seemed to breeze into a situation and take control, the Fifth Doctor is one who no one seems to listen to.
Peter Davison played the role for two years and two-and-a-half months over three seasons. Since then, the Fifth Doctor has had appearances in several novels and short stories before Davison returned to the role for Big Finish since 1999. Here, I plan to watch, read and listen to his stories in the order they occurred for him in-universe to the best of my abilities.
So, this is a another experiment. This is a topic all about the Fifth Doctor and his era across all mediums. It’s also a hub for reviews[1]. I plan on editing this first post as I move forward, and I have no idea how fast I’ll progress through this. This first post will be the hub and below that can be discussion. I’ll also be trying to create a timeline as I go along, inserting stories into the Fifth Doctor’s life as I consume them. And, before you yell at me for not putting The Five Doctors in Season 20, yes I know it’s lumped in with Season 20, but as it’s an anniversary special and aired eight months after the last episode of Season 20, I feel it better fits in the between season section.
