Me and my friend made a deal recently: she watches Doctor Who (my favourite show) while I watch Supernatural (her favourite show). So far I’ve seen the first two episodes and thought they were very enjoyable
I made this Thread to collect people’s opinions on the show. Feel free to discuss your favourite episodes, moments, characters etc. Maybe I’ll even write here something along with my own watch of Supernatural. Have fun!
Big fan of Supernatural and sometime last year managed to finish the last seasons via Amazon Prime.
Sam and Dean (and Castiel of course) are great characters and the world building was phenomenal. The comedy episodes were generally a hit; the scariness was top notch; the supporting cast like Gabriel, Crowley, Charlie, Jody, Lucifer, Chuck, Jack, Bobby, Mary, Rowena etc were never less than brilliant.
And it always amused me that every season finale ended up with alternating brothers trapped in Hell.
God Supernatural… watched a lot of it as a teenager, got to about series 10, then dipped in and out after that. Did watch all of s15 as it came out. I wouldn’t call myself a fan exactly though there are some excellent parts, but I have watched a lot of it
I watched up until somewhere in season 4/5, then followed vicariously through friends/Tumblr, was on Twitter/Tumblr for Nov 5 (experiencing an emotion I never had before and never will again) and then watched the last couple of episodes.
I also watched the anime (ridiculous, Dean is Canadian in it) and The Winchesters, which is actually good! If you want the Supernatural vibes but with actual diversity, it’s perfect. And you don’t necessarily need to watch Supernatural first (tbh it might be better if you don’t), except for the last episode (which if you watch without seeing any Supernatural first, pleease let me know! I feel like it should be incomprehensible but still fun)
Supernatural is one of those Doctor Who/X-Files adjacent shows that I’ve flirted with the idea of watching several times over the years, but never actually gotten around to. If I remember rightly, a lot of the X-Files crew were involved in the first few seasons - I’m just not quite as keen on fantasy as I am sci-fi, plus fifteen seasons is a stonkingly big time commitment! For now, it’s on the big pile of “shows I want to watch someday” along with Buffy and the various Star Trek entries.
Man I remember the SuperWhoLock times. They were huge!
I also remember SuperWhoLock and was deep into it myself. Loved Supernatural; had a few friends who I watched it with back in the day. Don’t think I ever finished S10 though. SPN has some of the best experimental and bottle episodes in all of TV, especially when it hit its stride around S4-5.
It’s a show that I watched so spread out with HUGE gaps in between catching seasons (because it kept leaving various channels) so it’s one I fully intend to rewatch properly without all the massive gaps in between.
Supernatural was a demon (hah) for the ‘previously on’ montages which probably hindered more than helped some of the time.
I watched up to about season 5 of Supernatural back when SuperWhoLock was huge (mostly so I wasn’t missing out on the memes.)
Ended up loving it. No idea why I didn’t keep watching or ever go back to it, as I have nice memories of it!
just watched episode 20 season 11 and metatrons monolog to god ripped my heart out so I’m drawing my OCS to those lines..
this show is going to drive me insane
if only I was alive / on social media during them all of my interests were huge back then and now no one knows about them
