The Yearn: Possibly my least favourite episode by far but that didn’t stop it from making me tear up. I think it’s a combo of this era in general is so, so beloved to me, and in this episode in particular Valarie just… Oh I love her. Nothing bad is going to happen to her right… right… I have a vague inkling of what happens at the end but I’m pretty unspoiled overall and I’m scared…

The Yearn is an interesting idea, and it has some moments, but sadly I think it;s a fairly weak story.

It is one of the weaker ones in the run, for sure. But it’s followed by two great stories!

The Curiosity Shop: Oh boy, everyone else rated this one like five stars… I didn’t not like it, but it didn’t hit that five star chord for me. I think I found him doing all the voices confusing because I couldn’t always tell which Doctor he was meant to be. He’s very talented and I liked the idea, but I also got to a point where I couldn’t tell the difference between Dudman and the food seller guy which confused me more. As I say, I liked the idea a lot but it just didn’t quite hit for me, and I found the resolution to the war plot to be a bit wrapped up too neatly too quickly.

I didn’t rate it 5/5. I rated it 4.5/5 as I think it’s a well done, and important in the series, but I don’t “like” it. It’s got too much drama monologue for my tastes, but objectively it’s rather good.

The emotional voice of Safiyya grates on me a little. And the impressions of other Doctors confuses me. Other have said it’s Twelves impressions of the past Doctors, but to me it’s still confusing and bad.

Rated high because it’s well done, but my personal opinions is rather low. Confusing rating, but eh well.

Valarie was, as always, the strongest part to me. I think Safiyya is wonderful, and though I agree that Curiosity Shop was important, as a story I think it was just basically fine. I just think it was a bit of a miss for me, overall. But I am loving Broken Hearts so far

I like Broken Hearts, but I have similar issues with it.

Broken Hearts: 11/10 I’m literally in floods right now. Those little robots… But please what does ‘I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to say goodbye to Valarie Lockwood’ mean please… she’s going to be okay right???

This series might compete with Gallifrey for emotional character arcs for you. I can’t reveal any more, but the last set is outstanding.

And shows Dudman and Ingars acting range. A cool 2 actor story.

Listening to Sins of the Flesh again.

Wow is this story good. Possibly the single best use of the Cybermen (or a very close competitor if not)

Genuinely my favourite 11 story across both EU and telly, and one of my fave DW stories ever honestly!

All of Time And Space. Meta-level narrative in a fun way, twisty and turny with interesting themes and layers and great performances.

9/10

All of Time and Space is a wildly inventive, mind-bending episode that fully embraces the possibilities of meta-storytelling. It’s packed with clever ideas, humorous satire, and poignant moments of existential reflection. While it does run a bit long and can be overwhelming with its layers of complexity, it remains an impressive and unique entry in the Doctor Who audio canon.

The Yearn. Probably the weakest story of this run, but still an interesting take on the base under siege concept and essential for introducing Roanna.

6/10

The Yearn is a solid, well-structured adventure that balances action, mystery, and character development effectively. While the romance between Valarie and Roanna moves at an almost breakneck pace, the emotional beats land well, and the episode successfully sets up future potential for their relationship. The Yearn themselves make for an unsettling and thought-provoking threat, adding depth to the story’s central conflict.

Curiosity Shop is an ambitious project where Dudman pulls off some impressive acting. It’s a slow burn that doesn’t fully pay off until the fallout in Broken Hearts, but its strengths lie in the unique relationship between Eleven and Valarie.

8/10

Curiosity Shop is a haunting, understated character piece that takes a fascinating deep dive into identity, memory, and sacrifice. The concept of the Doctor reconstructing himself through past incarnations is a brilliant one, even if some of the impressions don’t quite land. The slow, creeping horror of Valarie giving up more and more of herself is masterfully done, making the final revelation all the more painful.

The rushed resolution and slightly uneven voice work hold it back from true greatness, but this is still an excellent, emotionally charged story that sets the stage for a devastating fallout.

And then comes the masterpiece. The Scherzo of the Eleventh Doctor. The riveting character piece that will leave you devastated. Ingar and Dudman at their best and poetic storytelling that BF rarely reaches these days.

10/10

Broken Hearts is a beautifully painful story, exploring the darker, more complicated side of the Doctor-companion dynamic. It’s not about grand adventures or alien battles—it’s about betrayal, trust, and the wounds that may never fully heal.

As Dudman’s swan song as Eleven, it’s a fittingly bittersweet farewell. Not with a grand, heroic moment, but with a quiet, deeply human reckoning.
