Shauny got me please might I be added to the pack haha
Agreed, I much prefer using my laptop to my phone for things
Firefox is great because I’ve got an adblocker, and an extention that lets me skip youtube sponsor segments too!
I’ll add the starterpack to the original post!
Sponsor Block is such a life saver honestly, it reduced the amount of advertisement I’m exposed to on a regular basis to almost zero, considering I already had a really powerful adblocker.
I use the Arc browser. I find it nice and have some features that I have not seen in any other browsers.
Which I am now reading this post on…
I’m mainly on there to keep up-to-date on covid and other scientific research but wouldn’t mind being added to the group
I’m obviously going to follow anyone with a Tendi avatar…
As I am looking at Bluesky and Mastodon more intensely because of this thread, I notice on Bluesky much talk in the vein of ‘we are just as independent/decentralized as Mastodon and never will happen with Bluesky what happened with Twitter.’ And on Mastodon, posts like this onetell a different story.
Just in case you are looking deeper into it anyway, I would be curious about your thoughts as an expert in such things.
Yes, I’ve noticed a mismatch between what Bluesky says it is and what Mastodon say it isn’t. I do sometimes think Mastodon (as an entity) can be a bit overzealous in how ‘independent’ it is where it occasionally borders on arrogance. I think people are trying to emulate the X experience but do better with Bluesky and I think that’s an admirable way to behave. Hopefully it can stay that way for a while.
Mastodon is just better in every way, but people think it’s “complicated” because you have to choose a server - no different to choosing who to use as your email provider really.
(Note that “tardis.team” is also a Mastodon server, I can offer accounts on there but it’s something that actually costs me money so would need to think about it. Also can offer email accounts!)
I used to be a huge user of Twitter, I’d be a timeline completionist and read 100% of my carefully curated timeline in a third-party app that kept your place, showed everything in chronological order, and had no ads.
Ever since that all died (Musk banned third party apps and shoved awful ads everywhere and people I used to follow left) I’ve been trying to replicate it but it will never happen again unfortunately. I’ve kinda grown out of it now.
I spent my time on here instead much better!
And I’m just using Mastodon and Bluesky to find other fans and bring them here
Mastodon’s one of these cases where I actually quite like the server I’m on, and actually did chuck some money at it at one point, so I’m pretty much staying there, barring something unforeseen.
It does make a difference there what server you are on, because the server can be a bit of a community in itself, though on larger ones it isn’t, and it affects what’s being blocked and what isn’t, and what you see is based partially on who everyone in the server is following and such, IIRC.
Bluesky, well, Bluesky goes down sometimes, so it’s not that decentralized.
Future higher tier patron reward? (Or like a be X level patron for X months and you get access to it so you don’t have to worry about losing access to it if you stop being a patron or whatever)
It would probably have to be separate from Patrons because it’s not something most people would want so makes sense to split it out.
For a second thoughts she was following you!
That would have been awesome
If we’re nice about The Dark Flame we could point her in the direction of the forum…
We’ve been nice about some of the other Seven/Ace stories. I remember most people really enjoying The Fearmonger.
I have my first celebrity follower! Lisa Greenfield - Flip Jackson has followed me back!
