TG Prompt Month October 2026: BINGO!

[sircarolyn]

Welcome to the TARDIS Guide’s several times annually prompt month! As usual, I’m trying to release the prompts about a month before the event, which will be BINGO in October! Anyone can join, and you can participate however you want: writing, art, moodboards, gifs - whatever! There is only one hard rule for the TG Prompt month:

BE NICE ABOUT YOUR OWN WORK!!! Please don’t post your own work with any sort of ‘this isn’t very good’ preamble - just choosing to be brave and share is good enough for us.

FAQ/Guidelines:

How do I get a card? - You can fill out a blank template with whichever prompts you like - there is a website that is easy to use here, or you can randomise the list by following this link: BINGO^[1] (generating duplicate cards issue should now be FIXED). If you randomise and get a prompt you don’t like, then feel free to swap it. HARD MODE is selecting five prompts from each category to stretch yourself a little.

Do I have to post every day? - You can fill out your bingo card in any order, but I would ask that you only post one thing per day as not to overwhelm readers. Please post your card too with the prompt crossed off so we can celebrate progress!

How do I post? - I have opened a collection on Archive of our Own here but you can just post straight to the forum if you wish. It’s not imperative to comment on everyone else’s work, but please try to read and comment where you can - I want this event to feel inclusive and fun for everyone. I will also add a comment below and open it as a wiki so you can add your card and links to your work as a little masterpost.

What counts as a bingo? - If you complete a line, you can call yourself a bingo winner! If you fill out your full card, that’s a full house, and you don’t get a prize but you will earn the awe and eternal respect of your fellow writers.

Can I do…? - YES! There are no rules and I’m not policing this. Write whatever you want, and use the prompts however you desire. The point is to create. I have categorised the prompts for simplicity, but you don’t have to stick to that! Write dark fluff! Write happy angst! I don’t care. Interpret it however you want, write anything - just please be sure to give appropriate warnings if they become necessary.

What if I don’t want to do a bingo? - if you feel like just picking a few prompts to do, or if you made a card but suddenly want to do a different prompt, go for it! The bingo is more a gimmick than a hard rule and we’d rather enjoy you sharing one work that be stressed and do nothing at all.

[Jae]

Oh hopefully this’ll get me out of my writing slump again, the past prompt months have been really good for that! The prompts are really inventive I’ll have to put my card together tomorrow

[ImpossibleGirl]

Not going to participate this time since I want to focus on my own projects at the moment. Saved the prompts for later. Good luck to everyone that will be

[FumblingFoamasi]

I’ve been looking forward to this! I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting a BINGO format, but this is certainly one way of producing some interesting results—we’re one step closer to TARDIS Guide Mad-Libs!

My card is as follows...

The mind races at the possibilities. Should I try to go for a BINGO every time? Or should I just pick and mix as I please? ‘Sometimes the only choices you have are bad ones. But you still have to choose…’

Either way, I’m very excited for this. Here’s to hoping I don’t phone it in within the first few attempts, haha

[eightreece]

I’ve lost my confidence in posting writing recently so this can def help me! (I’m just scared of posting in a new fandom atm idk why)

My vampire Luke fic….i miss it :( I might finish it this time :)

[dukefan01]

I’m excited for this. Probably do Classic UNIT themed again if no one minds. I’ll have to go over the prompts this week.

[sircarolyn]

The concept is more a fic per square and a bingo for completing all your squares, but that’s not a hard rule at all! Be free!! Excited ti see what you come up with

@eightreece

I’ve lost my confidence in posting writing recently so this can def help me!

You are welcome and enouraged to post here, even if it’s something small. We want to see it!

[Rowana_Farrin]

Yay! This looks fun! I have no idea how much I’ll be able to write or if I’ll have a theme, but I’ll see what comes out. I did decide to let the randomizer make me a card and see what inspiration strikes, haha!

Summary

(I’m very happy I rolled the “robot dog” prompt… )

[Take414]

Is there a bug with the randomisation? Because the prompt sheet I rolled seems to be exactly the same as RowanaFarrin’s, lol.

Either way, this looks exciting! I’ll definitely try and participate as much as possible. I might also try and write two stories for each prompt - one DW-related, and one set in a personal project of mine, because I’ve been in a bit of a slump for the latter recently.

[sircarolyn]

There could be - at the bottom of the page there should be a menu with an option to generate a new card - try that? Otherwise uhhhh not sure…

[Take414]

Yeah, that worked now!

Not sure how I'm gonna work in most of these prompts, but we'll see how it goes!

[TimeyWimeyStuff]

Just generated a random bingo card, and the bottom line seems perfect for my interests and vibes

Bingo Card

Actually there are several bingos I could get here that work for me actually. I’m quite excited for this. Some of my prompts also feel like they could work really well for particular crossovers too.

[TimeyWimeyStuff]

Yeah, mine too. I’m going to stick with what I have, but it’s a bit weird

[Jae]

you need to actually generate a new one if you want it.

click on the menu in the corner, then “NEW”. confirm that you want to generate a new one, then click generate, and then you actually have a new one

[TimeyWimeyStuff]

Thanks. Happy with what I got really. I might shuffle positions around a bit, but am planing to keep most or all of the prompts I got.

[TimeyWimeyStuff]

I jsut realised a bunch of prompts on my bingo card are actually songs. Am I allowed to ignore that, and instead just do the titles as my prompt? I saw several of them and came up with ideas, without realising they are songs.

[sircarolyn]

Yes absolutely, you can do what you want! I tried to choose songs with interesting titles so they’d make interesting prompts

[DoctorStory]

Ooh, these are fun prompts, and I loved doing the last prompt month, so you can definitely expect to see my work next month! I’ll also try and write something about the Cybermen or the Second Doctor, since it’s the 60th anniversary of the Tenth Planet in October (I believe)

[Rowana_Farrin]

For the record, I have no issues using the same card as other people! It’ll be fun to see what we come up with for the same prompts!
