Story Variations

A new feature of the site is Variations of a Story - this is when there is another version of a story that is different enough that it should be completed and rated separately, but it’s not actually a different story.

Example:
The Daleks is a story from 1963, and The Daleks in Colour is a cut-down, edited, and colourised version of the same story.

If you are aiming to watch everything featuring the First Doctor, and you watch either The Daleks or The Daleks in Colour, either will count towards your goal, and you do not need to watch both.

Another example are the various omnibus editions released for Tales of the TARDIS.

We will be adding other story variations in the near future, including Special remastered editions of Classic episodes, Animations of missing episodes and Audiobook versions of books.

(Something which is similar, but not the same, would be an “adaptation” - this is where a TV story has been adapted into a novel, or a novel adapted into an audio drama. These are considered different enough to warrant being completely separate stories).

Yep, those too!

Would this count audiobooks vs books?

(or would it at least count it when there’s slight differences between the two)

Yes this will also count for audiobooks of novels.

Although they are different mediums, they are the same story.

It’s going to be a lot of work to add them all because most books have them, but they will get added eventually.

I’m happy to add the torchwood ones if you want!
