Inspired by @DontBlink’s thread on Blur and Gorillaz, I thought I’d whip up a thread for my favourite musician: David Bowie.

I don’t think there’s a musician as fascinating, creative, genre-bending or stylish as Bowie and his music hits with me like no other.

My favourite album is 1. Outside, which consists only of all time great tracks and is also the most aesthetically strong album I’ve ever listened to.

And my favourite song by him is either Life on Mars or Heroes, both are as perfect as a song can get.

What are everybody else’s thoughts on Bowie and his eclectic oeuvre?

I’m a huge Bowie fan! My favorite album is probably Hunky Dory, but I don’t think I could pick a favorite song — there’s too many great ones of too much variety to choose.

I need to listen to more Bowie, I really liked Blackstar which I heard when it came out when I was in high school. I got spoiled on Twitter that on today’s Drag Race USA All Stars they did a Bowie inspired runway category so 6 Bowie looks! Might share once I’ve seen it if anyone’s interested!

Gosh, I’m terribly novice-like when it comes to Bowie (much to the disappointment of many of my friends!) but I do maintain that the soundtrack for Labyrinth (which is split between Trevor Jones & Bowie) is utterly phenomenal.

Aahhh, David Bowie, the man, the myth, the legend. A guy who kept reinventing himself and his music, so it’s difficult to place him in just one box. And he’s so influential to a lot of musicians that came after him. A magician of words, vocals and melodies. One of the greats, truly.

I haven’t listened to all of his albums, but from the ones I have, I definitely enjoy Hunky Dory, Let’s Dance, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, Heroes and Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) the most. But he tends to have something to like on all of his records.

And he was a great actor too. Bowie in Labyrinth is a childhood memory I’ll never forget.

I love David Bowie! Still so many albums left to listen to lol but my favorite songs are probably Heroes, Space Oddity, Hang on to Yourself, Golden Years and Loving the Alien.

Love Bowie. Listened to the entire Blackstar album not long after he died. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars tends to be a favorite album.

Pretty fond of the song Space Oddity, in that I’ve watched both music videos for it any number of times. (Quite like Bowie as Ground Control in the original.)

And yes, Bowie in Labyrinth is great, even if those aren’t really his hands with the balls. Magic Dance is a lot of fun.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t listened to much David Bowie, but I loved him in Labrynth and have been meaning to listen to more of his music for years, but haven’t got around to it yet

Love Bowie! Definitely don’t know as much as I should for saying I’m a musician. Nevertheless he is one of my biggest inspirations as a person and a musician.

Bowie is one of those artists that I should love more than I do. He is right in the genre/style that I listen to on a regular basis.

I think Ziggy Stardust is an absolute masterpiece, and Blackstar is up there with Warren Zevon - The Wind as one of the greatest swansongs ever. His “Berlin Trilogy”, along with Iggy Pop - The Idiot/Lust for Life as outstanding pieces of work.

Sadly, outside these albums, I tend to just stick to a homemade greatest hits album/playlist. His other albums just appeal less to me and have too much “fluff” for me to be drawn in.
