Happy Monday Trekkies.
Oh how lovely and fun was the fantasy world episode of Season 1 of SNW?
They’ve really hit the nail on the head with this series.
Just a return to normal, standalone episodes. Standard Star Trek. What I was kind of looking for after Picard and Discovery. I’m not one who would say Trek can never be serial, but something more traditional was nice.
Hemmer was great in that one! And that was the one with the dog, too.
Sometimes you can pretty much tell everyone’s having fun.
Oh my god! Not Hemmer! The final two episodes of Season 1 are brilliant!!
Yeah, had to make sure not to spoil that one. Especially since I love Hemmer. It did bring a bit of a reminder to me that new characters to Strange New Worlds were not in TOS for some reason…
The last episode is particularly good if you’re familiar with the relevant TOS episode.
Oh I’m not - which episode does it link to?
“A Quality of Mercy” is AU “Balance of Terror” from TOS.
Guess which episode I gave up on in my watch of TOS…
Yep.
The one before Balance of Terror.
A reason to try again, at least.
Yeah, “Balance of Terror” is how things should have gone in that situation, if Pike hadn’t messed things up. Some of the dialogue was direct quotes, some of the scenes parallel scenes in the original, etc…
I’d say that’s one of the best of TOS, and if you end up not liking that one, then TOS probably isn’t going to be for you.
How the hell does this exist without me not knowing
What should I do after i finish S7 of TNG?
Start Deep Space Nine. That was the next series in line overlapping with TNG. Commander Sisko’s story starts at the Battle of Wolf 359.
Yeah, Picard is in one of the first two episodes of DS9, IIRC…
Shouldnt i do tng films?
I mean, you could. The first TNG film came out during season 3 of DS9…
The last TNG film pretty much killed TNG films.
My personal favorite Star Trek series is Voyager, so you could jump to that too.
You could. Voyager can be really good, and can be really bad. In back to back episodes, even, or within the same episode.
Much better then season 1 of Discovery, in any case…
