Now I’m usually all for meta, fourth-wall-breaking fun in my Doctor Who, but this is just too far.
It’s really hard to explain, but everything about this (fans appearing on screen and commentating) is just wrong for me.
I’m really scared for Lux.

This is the same reason why you don’t like Random Shoes as well?
I wouldn’t say that.
The reasons Random Shoes doesn’t work for me (and these are just personal issues) is because :
a) The main character (I think his name is Eugene) is incredibly irritating to me, so I don’t feel any sympathy for him at any point
b) The plot feels messy and nonsensical to me
and c) It never feels like Torchwood for me. I always struggle when things experiment and try out different styles. Sometimes it really works for me, and I can enjoy it a lot, but there are occasions where it just fails. Random Shoes is definitely one of those.
I know it’s quite silly to dislike something for reasons as simple as that, but I do have very strong opinions.
If I like something, I love it.
But if something feels ‘wrong’, I’ll hate it.
I haven’t sought out leaks and have had to piece together certain bits and pieces from conversations here and there. I vaguely thought this was what might be going to happen and I’m not thrilled about it either really, but given Mrs Flood’s breaking of the fourth wall and the finale title being The Reality War, I’m definitely expecting The Land of Fiction (or similar) to play a huge part.
There’s potential there for this particular leak from Lux to play into that and be paid off satisfactorily. Of course, there is the potential for the opposite so I appreciate your hesitance. I share it about other things but I’ve got a vaguely comforting thought that there is an explanation for it all at the show’s disposal in one of its past stories.
So I’ve got my
Personally, I don’t see why this should be a problem if it’s done well. It might be silly, yes, but it might also serve a narrative purpose. We won’t know until we’ve seen the episode and it’s too early to judge based on rumours.
But I guess this is similar to why some didn’t like the sudden musical number at the end of Devil’s Chord either.

This makes me very happy indeed! I’m looking forward to it
Lux is my most-anticipated, so this is so good to hear
So IF two classic companions are coming back… Mel for the Rani and then a choice of Jo, Tegan or Nyssa for Omega perhaps?
I’ve got my fingers crossed for Susan still!
Also realized something the reality war animated teaser… The red and yellow (or gold) cracks in the wall represent both the Rani and Omegas colour scheme
Ok here me out, wish world and the events of this season and the last are all a massive experiment of the Rani, space babies, villengard included. It’s all one bug unethical experiment that just so happens to involve a bit of universal destruction
I wish the unholy trinity wasn’t including Rani if that were the case, but rather that they are beings that she unintentionally ends up freeing and now she needs to help put things in place
Nah because it seems like the trinity is her, another incarnation and Omega, more like willingly unleashed because she just doesn’t care who gets hurt. Always has been the Ranis way of doing things, experimenting with what she shouldn’t at the risk of other people’s lives, even aware of the risks themselves
I still am not seeing why the Rani would be breaking the fourth wall.
And everyone saying Space Babies are her experiment when there’s nothing in that story to suggest it was an experiment? It was just a futuristic baby farm that got abandoned for political reasons, it was very clearly an allegory for the abortion debate.
I also don’t see the connection between the Rani and Omega. Or why there would be two Ranis. Can someone explain? I feel like that’s just grabbing random toys from the shelf and mashing them together.
For me it’s got to be something to do with the Land of Fiction.
