Yep, the Daleks were overused by the time we hit the end of the Moffat era. Then they did sort of the same thing with the Cybermen and the Master to a lesser extent.
Whilst I donāt want them to be overused, I really want Ncuti to face them.
Seeing as this is a speculation thread I think that he will, from that interview when he said he got to tick something off his wish list of things.
I prefer Daleks to be used for finales or special episodes and want them to feel like a big threat again.
Itās either that or the fact that he got to make a story set in Africa.
I also want to see him face the Daleks. The first Dalek encounter is sorta the moment when every new incarnation of the Doctor truly cements itself.
I hope RTD brings the Mighty Jagrafess of the Holy Hadrojassic Maxarodenfoe back, i love that guy
The problem their is that they are really bad at using them. There are very few good Cybermen storiesā¦
Moffat seemed to use Daleks more as small cameos and hardly ever the main focus.
And yeah there were too many bad Cybermen plots.
I am enjoying the focus on new monsters.
I just want Axos backā¦
I want the cleaners and a Paradise Tower sequel. But I should just read the comics.
Just seen news from a reliable TV news account on Twitter, the embargo for reviews for ep 1 have lifted! Some initial reviews below:
New article! Ncuti Gatwa: āThere are moments when you see darker elements of the Doctorā | Doctor Who
Another mixed review, this one from from RT. I am however very excited, and not surprised, by this quote āAnita Dobsonās Mrs Flood makes her long-awaited return, and sheās as camp as ever.ā
I wonāt post them all but just as its RT thought Iād post another. So far theyāre all pretty much saying its a mixed bag.
The season premiere and the first episode with a new companion is often a bit rough, so Iām not shocked that itās not receiving the best reviews, and it wasnāt one of the episodes that I was super looking forward to anyways.
RadioTimes is very critical,i think they gave like 6 episodes 3 stars and like only 73 yards and boom got 4 stars.
TLDR; mixed bag then.

Sitting next to two actors whilst saying how amazing/fascinating itād be to replace actors with AI, and then only AFTER, saying it was a joke.
Personally, Iād really rather not look at the reviews before watching something that is coming out, as that kinda biases you towards the episodeā¦
So thatās an average of 7.3/10. Not too bad.
Iāve moved the reviews to the spoiler topic.
They are a little bit spoilery for people who want to go in blind.
But Iām curious so I looked at the reviews.
Some pretty good ratings!!
I wonder what Space Babies got in the initial reviews last yearā¦
