Pretty much what the title says! SJA never had season-long arcs like Doctor Who, but if I was to write one, there would be objects or aliens displaced from their original time period or area of space causing havoc every episode, and it would be revealed in the finale that this was all caused by one of the many alien artifact’s in Sarah Jane’s attic (but not Mr. Smith since we don’t need a rehash of “The Lost Boy”).
My pitch revolves around the introduction of a new kid, Emma Montague, or Em. I liked the idea of her being loud, confrontational, maybe imply some troubled home life, but also fiercly clever, functionally replacing Luke. Maybe Sarah-Jane starts to bond with her in the same way, feeling protective of her, forgiving when she lashes out. I like the idea of a bonding moment where Em is forced to kill a villain with a gun, and it’s obviously a very traumatic experience for her, and Sarah-Jane has to comfort her
And obviously the season finale reveals Em as a new incarnation of The Master (note, we’re still calling her The Master, not Missy, because why does that title need to be gendered), who’s been setting up a plan all season, manipulating everyone into place, and is finally setting things in motion
Also this project feels relevant:
Hold up this is awesome
I would love for adaptations of the SJA ‘lost’ stories to be made - that project looks super cool!
However my ultimate crazy fantasy for SJA Beyond would be to get Natalie Redfern[1] in there! Give me a horribly awkward scene where Nat shows up at the door in trouble and everyone is like ‘Sarah Jane, who’s this?’ and Nat is like ‘Classic Sarah, of coursr you didn’t tell them about the year you were hunted down and almost killed by a cult’ and everyone is like
from the SJS audios ↩︎
If that season was real, it would be my favorite SJA season!
That’s super cool! I’ll definitely have to read it when I have time.
Honestly, I would’ve just loved Sarah Jane to meet 12, and 13 for that matter!
I need this to happens
Someone get briggs on the phone
It would never have happened due to the shows’ target age groups being extremely different, but a crossover between Torchwood and SJA could’ve be interesting. I’ve only seen a few episode of Torchwood (and it was five years ago), but those characters would definitely need to be toned down. However, I still think that it could’ve worked.
We sort of got it but not really in the Rani-led BF sequel series, with her meeting Tyler from Torchwood. Though I’m with you that a full on crossover would be cool!
Pretty sure even in canon SJ said she doesn’t like Torchwood cus of the guns as well
I listened to all of Rani Takes On The World, and I didn’t realize until now that Tyler was from Torchwood. That’s neat.
I’m still disappointed that we never saw Sanjay on screen or even mentioned in any of the audios (despite the fact that both seasons of Rani Takes on the World came out after “Farewell, Sarah Jane”), and that Luke never actually came out in the show according to plan. I would include both of those in a season 5B of SJA.
I really want Big Finish to adapt these for a lost stories range
Better then some where it’s just a slightly different script for an existing serial
Would be so good! I really hope we get more Rani Takes on the World too
Sidenote: I really need to go through SJA in full someday
Big Finish truly underestimates the fact that they could make bank from me if they released some lost stories, new Rani Takes on the World, and entirely an entirely new audio season of SJA.
If Sky was meant to be revealed as the Trickster’s daughter in the season 5 finale, does that make her a part of the pantheon? I’m a Maestro enthusiast, and having them in an SJA story would be interesting.
I can not recommend it enough! How far have you gotten?
Not a clue,
I watched the odd episode here and there as a kid but was never hugely into it.
Will probaly watch in full after i’m done with Torchwood
