Considering all the weird things they’ve done over the years (laser gun battle in space, a car that turns into a submarine, a man with a third nipple, actually killing off Bond…) it’s surprising they haven’t played around with time travel and multi-Bond stories.
After the ridiculousness of the Nanobot-assassin-shenanigans in No Time To Die I’d say we are ripe for Q to develop time travel or multiverse hopping or some such
The Valeyard himself Michael Jayston played him in a 1990 one.
First actor to play both Bond and the Doctor!
& this is why I need to start watching your Bond YouTube channel.
Off topic: really enjoying the Dr. Who one.
Thank you, I’m snowed under at the moment so finding it a mission to maintain at the moment but hoping to get back on track from tomorrow!
I snagged a slightly-damaged DVD set of the first 24 films (box was damaged, discs were fine) for £15, so I’ve been steadily making my way through them because I haven’t watched/rewatched any James Bond besides Daniel Craig in decades. So this thread is well-timed!
The “time travelling James Bond” comment reminded me, though, of a weird fan edit where all the various James Bonds try to kill each other off. I might need to dig it back up…
I remember seeing this as well! It was a pretty fun video!
Watching Dr No.
I’ve seen it countless times but coming to it “in order” after the Fleming stuff… I’m seeing a film I know like the back of my hand and have done for over 30 years in a completely different light.
I’ve even read all the Flemings countless times as well but I haven’t ever cross-pollinated in release order and as such I’m getting a far better idea of how this film would have felt in 1962 than I’ve ever been able to. Of course, I’ll never be able to get that exact feeling for sure but blimey, was this a rewarding thing to do.
A whole new experience on something so utterly familiar. I don’t know why, as a fan, it’s taken me this long to do this.
And putting aside the fanboy tickles, this film really wastes no time. In 16 minutes I’d say the ground is laid for an audience to utterly trust the film they’re watching in a way that’s all too rare. No wonder it became a phenomenon.
Having a great night, thanks.
Frankly I’m surprised it’s taken this long for this picture to appear in the thread…
Like a man on a wire
The thrill takes me higher.
I chase my desire.
On…the Planet of Fire!
Think once Halloween is over it will be a Bond rewatch. Double-Oh-vember?
With a break for the 61-year anyversity of An Unearthly Child?
Good luck finding that missing story somewhere
He’s in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare which my eldest just watched playing a character who I think the end credits say Fleming (who appears in the film played by Freddie Fox) possibly based Bond on (it could be one of the other characters, to be fair, because I was only half watching so didn’t pick up entirely on who was who).
That’s interesting. He’s definitely a very traditional Bond actor in terms of looks and physicality. However, I was under the impression that they were looking for someone younger (around their early 30s), because that could mean they could make several movies with the new actor without having to replace him in a few years due to “old” age. Which is why Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been rumoured for quite some time. Cavill is currently 41 (which isn’t very old) and Taylor-Johnson is 34.
Not that I’m complaining; I’d like Cavill as Bond and as pointed out, he has given off Bond vibes before in the underrated Man from U.N.C.L.E. as well as The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
oh no, no no no
Oh no? Oh why?
Decent actor but don’t think he’s right for Bond.
