The Goblin Song slaps and is super fun so I don’t think you’re making the point that you want to be making here

Let’s agree to disagree on that one 
Well, you know, I enjoy it and it got stuck in my head… but listening to it, I think a lot of that’s being carried by the first minute, which was wonderful. Then we repeat variations on “He’s the Goblin King” a bit too often. The lines about coincidence were rather forced, and some of the lyrics after that seem off. (Not to mention the line about “Orphan boys with jet black hair” bugs me.)
Then it goes back to being wonderful when the Doctor and Ruby get there and start singing. The two of them singing is absolutely why I’d be hyped about a musical.
Also, RTD’s got Bowie on the mind, doesn’t he? First an episode about the Goblin King, then “Changes” in the trailer for the season?

And here I agree with you. I’ve not been particularly enamoured of any of the songs written by Gold.
