Dunno how reliable this is if at all but…
Dalek as companion.
Yeah saw this a bit ago,and there was like this rumor that its getting picked up with Amazon Prime.
Jeff Bezos needs to keep his greedy hands out of my special interest (sure, he probably risked have much to do with the day-to-day operations of prime video, but still).
Prime did well with Ripper Street.
Prime does have 1 miss and it was that LORD OF THE RINGS show which it was eh.
I liked it
Must be at least 12 rings etc
Probably an announcement of when The War Between the Land and the Sea will air…
Calling all Doctor Who fans! 2030 is going to be huge - you’re going to get a brand-new spinoff series, The War Between the Land and Sea.
It’s going to be such a hoot!
Guest starring David Tennant as Doctor Who Eternal.
Something worth noting: All four of the series Russell namechecked were for HBO/HBO Max. Also the US home of Doctor Who (2005-2022) and I Hate Suzie.
I don’t agree. If this were true, we’d be seeing the regular writers from the RTD1 era showing up again (with the exception of, you know, that one feller). Mark Gatiss and Chris Chibnall haven’t done anything since series 10 (Moffat) and series 13 (Chibnall himself), respectively. We’ve had Moffat once. Other than that, Kate and Briony, Sharma Angel-Walfall, Inua Ellams, and Juno Dawson all wrote for the TV series for the first time, though Juno had written several tie-ins. Pete McTighe wrote two previous episodes for Chris, and other work like the Collection liner notes, but not for RTD1.
He has pulled in his old production crew (Julie, Jane, Phil) and three actors to date - two of whom (David and Catherine) got involved at their own suggestion. But I don’t think he’s treating it as a closed club. His determination of who is or isn’t worthy of writing for DW might not be yours or mine, but that doesn’t make it inherently problematic.
Presenting the next Doctor Who spinoff series:
The teaser trailer will just be this:
Yeah, think the bigger problem there is just that various factors are making it where he ends up writing a lot of the episodes himself, and really, he shouldn’t be writing a majority of the episodes.
(One being, for example, that he can write episodes at times that he might not have a deal signed and the money to hire writers because he’s doing it himself.)
I just hope that if we are gaining a new production partner, that this time the series MANAGES TO STAY THERE, seriously, it’s terrible here in Brazil that we have to do the maniacal stuff to separate each streaming service and see which season is on each one now we’re going to have at least 3. three streaming services with the complete series? no, each one with a piece of the series
Yeah, if next season is on Amazon, is the Disney stuff going to move too, or will new who be split across 3 different platforms?
Abslom Daak as companion! Played by Hugh Jackman!
And once that happens, all copies of Kerblam! will mysteriously vanish…
Count again
It has always been the case that the showrunner writes a lot of the episodes. The problem now is that the season is so short that there is not as much room for other writers as there used to be, and that is sad.
But Kerblam is pro-Amazon
If Amazon take over, we will get a Kerblam sequel where the workers try to unionise and the Doctor faces the camera and tells everyone to get Amazon Prime to save the day.
It’s always been the case but tbh I’d be more than happy if that changes and the showrunner only wrote the opener and finale, and the occasional arc welding scene in other episodes. I want as many opportunities for new writers as possible
I see where you’re coming from, but I think that it could make character development and other smaller aspects harder to do. I think that it is important to have the showrunner throughout the season. If you look at some classic seasons, you can see this problem where a companion has different personalities depending on who is writing them. I have said this before, but I would love it if they tried the American model of a writing room where a lot of writers are involved in all scripts. I think that would make for a consistent, good show and allow a lot of voices to put their spin on it.
Also, if this were the case in the past, we would have lost some of the show’s best stories. I feel like both RTD and Moffat are at their best when they write stuff that doesn’t affect the season arc too much.
