Two years of me referring to her as Doctor Piper. I won’t be calling her Sixteen until it’s officially confirmed.
OK so my actual wish that I came up with last night in bed, is that (and I’ve said this before) they give the show to Heidi George of Call The Midwife fame, and then basically re-do the first ever season, but as a fairly high budget BBC period piece, set in the 1960s. Whatever you do with canon doesn’t really matter, but I think the important thing to do would be to give us the world of the 1960s first, something that Heidi George has proven herself very capable of, and then introduce The Doctor slowly. Have him played by Stephen McGann or something if you want to get clever.
Thinking about Doctor Piper again… If it is a fake-out, I think an special where the Doctor keeps changing faces in a kind of 45 min long regeneration before settling into the Sixteenth could be interesting. Done well, it could be a very funny episode, and it’d be a sweet way of getting some cool cameos of old Doctors and companions, maybe even some big name actors. It’d be the gimmicky regeneration to end all gimmicky regenerations (for good, hopefully).
Call it ‘The Face of the Doctor’ or something
Sounds like a The Curse of Fatal Death remake.
As more and more people switch off.
Maybe sort of a 5 style regeneration, then, with different companions and villains encouraging/discouraging the Doctor as he regenerates, only instead of just being projected around his head, he actually changes into them, they deliver a line or two, then move on to the next person?
Kinda, yeah, but less of something for pure comedy
It’s like Once and Future, but for TV!
Another production side thing I want is to not have two series filmed back to back. TRW had a lot of the same issues as EoD because of this
Haven’t listened to it, but from the synopsis it sounds very similar, yes!
Was about to post the same. Real shame that he’s likely gone, he was great.
Not saying it’s not him saying goodbye to the show, but it could also be true that it’s just a post around the twenty-first anniversary of his involvement with DW that aligns with the fact that the most recent series has ended and the show doesn’t currently have a future (in other words he can’t exactly do his job of casting people if there’s nothing to cast them in, lol).
If it is him going, then I will be sad to see him go - possibly and sadly the most unacknowledged factor in how the revival series has never failed to bring in a fantastic Doctor or companion.
Isn’t that just Curse of Fatal Death?
Canon, Iris is literally everyone, so she could have been the First Iris from the Timeless Irises
Okay so I’ve been thinking, lets say Disney pulled already and BBC starts filming the season in about 3-4 months, would you reduce the season to 6 episodes or continue as 8?
Who is it? Casting director?
If we’re being realistic, and it’s going to be solely BBC-funded (somehow), I think they’d drop to a Flux-esque 6 episode season. Purely guesswork, I don’t know how much money there is, but I doubt we’d get 8 episodes again.
Increase it to at least 10.
