That seems a bit too convoluted to all be correct but there may be some truth to it.
Although as I’ve said before, if Mrs Flood is the Rani then I really don’t understand the characterisation of her so far.
I think maybe we will have a separate actor play The Rani if she is involved.
(Also, baby farm doesn’t scream “the Rani” to me, it wasn’t an evil experiment or anything it was literally just what they do in the future. But oh well. We will see).

I know I’ve basically said this before, but what characterisation does Mrs. Flood have?

Maybe characterisation is the wrong word.
All we know about Mrs Flood is:
- She appears everywhere in Time and Space that the Doctor does
- Mostly she’s someone’s neighbour or someone in the background but a couple of times she’s been “the boss” (The Well, Lucky Day)
- She can break the fourth wall and speak to the audience
- She didn’t recognise the TARDIS or the Doctor when she first saw them
Just none of that makes me think “it’s the Rani!”

I wonder if this is just an element that will never get explained? Unless this era is all playing out in a ‘land of fiction’ of which only Mrs Flood is truly aware.
RTD could easily give a workaround for that, ‘oh you see faithful viewer the Rani did recognise the TARDIS but was just really surprised to see it’.

& The Rani was only in 2 TV stories, many years ago. For most viewers she will be unknown so her personality beyond being driven by science is pretty much up to whatever RTD wants to do with her.

Sure RTD can do what he wants with the Rani but if Mrs Flood is her I will be sorely disappointed because Mrs Flood yes may be lacking in characterisation as such, none of what we’ve had of her is anything like the Rani - Mrs Flood is mysterious, ominous, a little obsessed with the Doctor and so on.
And the Rani is none of those things! Superficially she’s a scientist, yes, but she’s not really into universal domination or the Doctor. If you wanted that kind of character, why not use the Master instead of taking another Time Lord and bending her completely out of any shape we’d recognise

Look, I agree with you that she doesn’t look like Rani, but I would forget about this fourth wall thing… for the simple fact that the doctor also broke it in seasons 1 and 2. Sometimes it’s just a characterization choice for the Time Lords from now on (if she is Rani), which I don’t think is cool at all.

On top of that.. Why even use the Rani? I mean there is great Potential but isn’t this whole Era about Gods or God-like beings?? I don’t know it feels weird to me if she ends up being the Rani, both because well she doesn’t seem like it. And on the other Hand because it feels a bit random breaking away from that entire God-Thing (which I wouldn’t complain about personally speaking, but I just can’t see RTD actually going with a Villain who isn’t a God at least for this Season).

I’ve been thinking about the fourth wall breaks with her, and it might just be because I’m not a huge fan of them, but I wonder if it’s really us she’s talking to, or some in-universe being/audience watching the Doctor. It’s probably just a regular fourth wall break, but something I’ve been turning over in my head.
