RTD 2 hype and appreciation topic

Dots and Bubble. Another great episode! They manage to make a Doctor and Companion light episode that doesn’t feel like they are gone. They have a presence through the whole episode. It starts with criticism about social media and how it controls our lives and ends with one of the most powerful scenes of the season where The Doctor wants to save those assholes, but they don’t want to be saved by him. Ncuti’s acting here is phenomenal. Fantastic episode.

Rogue - what a beautiful episode that I think I like more every time I watch it. I love the idea of aliens that come to Earth just to play and be part of the drama. It feels refreshing that the plot is not to take over the world or something like that. The earrings are fun, and I expected that 15 would have more gadgets like that after the gloves in the Christmas special. The acting is good as always with Ncuti and Millie.

If you haven’t, I really recommend the novel of this. Easily the best Target novel with 15 (except for The Giggle, but that is more 14).

Ooh I just noticed something I don’t think I did last time.

Rogue says “This job has so much paperwork since we got that new boss”.

The boss… S2 Big Bad?

Same boss that the Meep mentioned, maybe?

Or this fella…

Mrs Flood?

Yeah the Meep said it first.

I think Mrs Flood is the boss.

Been engaging a bit less with DW lately, wanting to save some novelty for the season next week..

Pretty excited, and weighing up whether to also write short reviews..

I’d like to read what you have to say :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I thought that Sutekh was the boss, but they are the one that waits. Interesting! Maybe I will get my story where Villengard faces consequences!

Yeah I thought maybe Sutekh was Meep’s boss but it wasn’t ever said, and then I really doubt he’s Rogue’s boss lol.

Maybe it ties in as well with Fifteen saying in Space Babies:

DOCTOR: I don’t have a people. I don’t have a home. But I don’t have a job, either. I don’t have a boss, or taxes or rent or bills to pay. I don’t have a purpose or a cause, or a mission, but I have… ..freedom.

He repeats it later:

DOCTOR: No job. No boss. Just fun

My own not watching Doctor Who much recently is just simply that since I completed all of classic, all of revival, and RTD2 1, as well as K9, my priority is things I haven’t watched before, or that it’s been so long I might as well have not watched them.

So, Doctor Who-wise, that’d be SJA, and probably Torchwood and Class. (And the next season) More Big Finish, one of these days. The BBV’s, if I can ever get my hands on them.

But I’m also halfway through Star Trek Voyager, so that’s been a priority. I haven’t watched the last season of Lower Decks yet. I’d like to rewatch most of DS9. And a lot of the rest of Star Trek is in there somewhere eventually, mostly as rewatches.

Also, Babylon 5, Farscape, the seasons I haven’t seen of Red Dwarf. Angel.

And there are some things people have asked me to watch I haven’t gotten to, like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End…

Legend of Ruby Sunday. I think that this is a great first part of a story. The stakes keep rising. I love it when they make fun of the Doctor when he talks about the anagram. The time window is a great device, and I love it when Cara tells the Doctor that Ruby’s birth mother is crying and then tells her that she took care of Ruby. I love the parallels between Ruby’s mother and Susan Triad. I think that the way they talk about Susan is great.

Empire of Death - The more I see this, the more I think that it’s not that bad. It has some great moments, especially with the Doctor, Ruby, and Mel. This is an amazing TARDIS team, and I would have loved to have a season with the three of them. I like that Ruby’s birth mother was ordinary, especially after Star Wars and Rey. The scene where Sutekh is dragged behind the TARDIS is also nice. It has a lot of good moments, and I like it. I gave it 3.5/5, and it might even be a 4/5.

This is the second time I have rewatched this season, and I really like it. It is one of my favourite seasons of the show and one of my favourite TARDIS duos. I am so excited for the next season!
