I struggle with drawing the line on things like these because there are plenty of features and fact files that we do have on the site - part of me feels like it’s the fact that it comes from an instagram account. Like, if the exact same file was printed in a DWM or similar, there wouldn’t be this kind of discussion, despite them functionally being the same thing. So, my thinking is if we’ve got other fact files/if we’d have other reference material on the site eventually, there’s no reason not to have these. And, to be clear, I am very pro reference books/etc being added to the site, as I think things like the character encyclopedias, the essential book of k9, whotopia, etc are a big part of a lot of fans’ whoniverse journeys, and so I think it would be useful for those people to be able to track those in the Guide, just as they’d track in-universe creations too.
Just to lay out where my thoughts are currently at!
(also they’re a quick easy way to increase your story count, haha)
I think if it was a fact file in DWM we definitely would be debating its addition. We’ve had exactly that discussion about sort of factual items in the annuals and brilliant books etc and ultimately decided not to add them.
Does that mean we aren’t adding reference books/documentaries after all? That’s a shame - was really looking forward to being able to document my little reference book collection on the site.
No, no. The plan is still to add reference books but @shauny is making sure all ‘stories’ are on the site first. So we’re only debating whether they count as stories - the ‘non fiction’ side of the site will be something a bit different, I think (it won’t affect things like Character Tracker etc I would think).
I also think I want to add the feature where people can add stuff themselves before I get to adding the reference stuff, because otherwise I’m going to be giving myself another huge task!
I’d like a break from importing when I’ve done the Stories so I can get to work on all the other plans I have for the site
Ahhh, okay - maybe these are files are more of a reference thing then, for discussion when we’re actually adding the reference material!
Got a question for you.
This story appears twice, once in Eleventh Doctor Titan Strips and once in Backup Strips
I can merge them, but which is the correct set for it?
Merge them. I have apparently read it twice and still don’t remember it. I don’t know which set is best.
It’s a backup.
This sounds a bit optimistic
Is it? I just merged them but didn’t see on the Wiki that it says a backup anywhere? How can you tell?
I own the original issue this was published in.
It’s four pages long, so still longer than a regular backup, but it acts as a back up to the main comic, and has the comedy aspects of normal backups.
It’s also not connected to the main plot of Eleven Year Three (the Sapling doesn’t appear).
I’d say it very much falls into the backup category, but of course, it’s up to you where you put it obviously
Thanks! I’ve changed it
Just because I am curious. What happens when I have completed both when merging?
The one I removed no longer exists, you’ve only completed one now, sorry!
It is okay. The stats will never be perfect.
Now that Alien Babies! is done, we are on to the next one: Aaagh! We should add them as well, right?
- yes
- no
I really don’t like this comic, but it seems like something we should have.
(There better be a badge for these too!)
Stupid question! We’re adding everything!
Yeah it is not that good but I also feel that we should add it
