Basically just a topic so I can ask you all what books I need to read before I can read the ones I really want to read, because I have abandoned nearly all attempts to do doctor who in any order.
Feel free to ask your own questions as well!

I’m happy to help answer your questions, although I haven’t really read any Virgins, PDAs, or EDAs…
For a start, one book that comes up soon in my quest to complete all Romana stories is the VNA Happy Endings, and I’m pretty sure this one ties in with some of the other ones of those. What do I absolutely need to read?
And what’s fun to read before? Or makes the experience better? (Optimally I’m looking for like a maximum of five books or so before)
To be honest, those will probably be the ones I need the most help on, I’m afraid
That’s what I was thinking, although thanks for making this topic as those are the ones I need help with too!
Ah, yes, I feel this pain, thank god a lot of ranges are very standalone.
But yeah, very lovely idea for a thread! I hope I am able to help, even if my knowledge on the Books can be rather limited (at least I know enough about the Wilderness Ranges to maybe be of use there!)
One Advice I can give is that I heard the VNAs are much more standalone and more welcoming when it comes to reading some of them out of Order than say the EDAs. PDAs/Missing Adventures are from my knowledge mostly disconnected due to their Nature as more adventures with past Tardis Teams, although there are of course some Stories which connect.
For Happy Endings, which I haven’t read but know basic things about, ideally, you should read all the VNAs that come before it (1-49) because I understand that it is filled with tons of cameos and references. Because it primarily focuses on Benny and Jason’s wedding, I’d say Love and War (Benny’s introduction) and whatever novel Jason Kane is introduced in are essential. Beyond that, absolutely no idea.
True you won’t recognise a bunch of characters if you haven’t read the other VNAs but I’d say the most important one to read would be Death and Diplomacy as it introduces Jason. I can’t remember the rest of the plot so can’t remember if anything else is vital.
