It’s 7 discs and includes Unleashed, in-vision commentaries, and the new Tales of the TARDIS, plus looks like all the content they added to YouTube!
I guess 7 discs explains why this one is weirdly expensive, but I do feel like it might have been better to just do a separate release for Tales of the TARDIS
Where did you see that Tales of the TARDIS was included? It doesn’t say on the Amazon link.
It says it on the website:
This new release features seven discs of content, a huge amount of special features, all episodes of DOCTOR WHO: UNLEASED and the TALES OF THE TARDIS version of CLASSIC Fourth Doctor adventure, PYRAMIDS OF MARS.
(They have a typo there, Unleased lol)
Cheers.
Hope for a future release of the rest of the TotT hopefully
Feature packed although as has been said some of it is already available on YouTube etc. But nice for fans to have it all in one package. Surprised they didn’t record commentaries for all episodes. Lee Binding’s artwork is always so good.
A nice overview here.
I’m so glad it has an actual box and isn’t just a regular DVD case with multiple discs in it like they have been doing since series 8
This also dispels the myth that because it’s on Disney+ we won’t get physical media!
Well, not quite. I’ve yet to hear about it releasing outside of the UK and to my knowledge the specials haven’t either. Not to mention the 60th specials being region locked (uncharacteristic of Doctor Who releases), I think it’s safe to say home media is impacted in territories where Disney control distribution. I can’t help but feel for the international fans, they already tend to get a bit of a bum deal.
As for this release I like the steelbook art but I really can’t justify that price. The standard blu-ray has a horribly airbrushed Ncuti Gatwa which is unfortunate, and £50 for this release is a bit of a joke. I’m glad they’ve been comprehensive with this release, but it still isn’t justifying the price tag in the way I feel the classic series sets consistently have. Definitely going to hold out for a heavy discount or something. I don’t want to be a grump, but that’s being a Doctor Who fan I suppose.
I was just browsing steelbooks as I have a few now and like the look of this one, plus it has Heaven Sent, but then I nearly had a heart attack:
God it looks incredible but jesus that pricetag
Do I really have to buy a Region 2 DVD player and ship it in from the UK
I could see if I could mod my xbox 360 that I use for DVD playing to be regionless ig
being an Aussie who fan is annoying, moving to the UK first chance I get
