Just out of curiosity, if you were going to add any of these emojis as one you could use as a reaction on a post, which would you add (up to 5!).
I donāt like any of these, sorry. If I had to choose one it would be the last one with the tear.
Well, itās basically every Doctor Who themed emoji we have on the site right now, aside from the ones already used as reaction emojis⦠(Plus the tear one.)
I never understand what the DW reactions (the TARDIS and K9) are supposed to mean, and the ones in this poll definitely donāt convey any real emotion (to me) like regular emoticons do. I think the thinking emoticon and other āfaceā emoticons that convey emotions we donāt currently have should be the priority.
K9 can mean āAffirmative!ā or it can mean Iām putting a cute robot dog on your post.
The pink TARDIS sometimes means LGBTQIA+, and sometimes means āHappiness Will Prevail!ā.
The regular TARDIS can be a bit timey-wimey, Iāll admitā¦
Incidentally, bear in mind this is just me doing a poll. shaunyās under no obligation to do anything with the results. (Though you never knowā¦)
Is that what people mean when they use it??? Iāve had no idea this entire time.
Sometimes, though thereās a fair amount of ācute robot dogā in there, too, especially if is being talked about.
Yeah, I use the to mean affirmative.
I may or may not occasionally use it as a reference to Mickey in āSchool Reunion,ā but meant in a lighthearted, gently teasing fashionā¦
I think the majority of those emojis are too small to even see what they are and too difficult to understand the meaning of.
I used to add reaction to a chat when @deltaandthebannermen was being cheeky but mostly use
now.
I use or
just to say āyay Doctor Whoā or āgay Doctor Whoā.
I donāt know why I use but sometimes itās just cute.
We have these discussions a lot, itās useful to shake things up every now and then. My current thinking:
can be seen as passive-aggressive but equally I donāt know any icon that could mean āI disagreeā that wonāt be called that.
I know some people think this is also passive aggressive but I often use it to say a quick āyesā if someone asks a question.
Iād be happy to swap with
because itās less dramatic and more sad.
What about or
for disagree? I just went through the list and those were the only ones that stood out to me. Alternatively
. But like shauny said, anything can be construed as passive aggressive.
Having wouldnāt be bad.
Could also see as a fun one.
Maybe , but that probably would be passive aggressive.
Oh yes @deltaandthebannermen keeps asking for an eye roll but that would be abused so much.
Itās fine. Iāll just keep side-eyeing you insteadā¦
The eyeroll emoji was a lifesaver. Some of my Gen X peers can still see their brainsā¦
Personally I would like a for when I donāt like my favourite characters are suffering. And
for āplease big finish give me more the Rani and that CIA spinoff I so deeply desireā
Sometimes I think it would be good if it was like Discord and you can just put any emoji, but actually that might just be chaos.
I do like the limited emojis, I honestly think it helps them have a clearer meaning in my head (although I do find myself having to code-switch a little when talking to people not on this side because they wonāt have the specific meaning Iām trying to convey)
Iām just pleased someone took the time to not only read my post, but to react to it, as well; so you could probably throw any old emoji on stuff I say and Iād be cool with it.
