Now that Doctor Who finally has that increased Disney budget, do you think we might finally get that Peter Jackson-directed episode of Doctor Who?
They certainly have more chance of being able to afford overseas filming in New Zealand now, and we know that Peter Jackson has expressed interest a few times in directing Doctor Who.
The biggest issue the BBC would face now would be that Peter Jackson’s episode would probably be at least three hours long.
Ah that’s the length of the edited down version! It’ll be at least four and a half hours in the special extended Directors super-duper B&W version and then comes half an hour more when they release it in Tales of the TARDIS at some point. And he’ll still leave out Tom Bombadil!
This isn’t exactly on topic but wouldn’t it be awesome if Christopher Nolan directed an episode of DW? He’s fascinated by time and nonlinear storytelling, so he’d probably direct an episode so complex that no one understands it - not that they had any chance anyway, because he’d also hire Hans Zimmer to do the music, and it would be so loud that you couldn’t follow the dialogue.
I’d love a Jackson directed Episode, his directing is usually spot-on with a lot of interesting Bits to it.
Now… do I think it’s likely? I kinda doubt it, he seems currently more interested in restoring plenty of Beatles Footage (which I am not complaining at all, considering I love the beatles). That said… who knows? Maybe one day he will actually direct for it, would be funny if it was for a Season without any of the added Disney Budget.
It’s not that he’d be very expensive though. He’s said that he’d happily accept a Dalek as payment
I’m just worried that his episode will take up half the season, being four hours in length. And that’s before the extended version, which adds three hours of cut footage, such as 27 minutes of the Doctor trying to find the TARDIS bathroom.
