I love Buffy - I watch it every few years, I’ve cosplayed Giles, I’ve watched all of Angel… twice… What are some people’s favourite bits of it?
Buffy is one of those Cases where I watched like the entirety of Season 1 and a lot of its second and then just nothing, not because I didn’t like it. On the Contrary it was one of the rare Shows that actually made me want to watch it further beyond just a few Episodes (not very much a Show Guy), but yeah, I don’t know. Maybe I should finish the Show now that we have a Thread, hm…
Very awesome that you cosplayed Giles! Would love to see that Cosplay (if you are comfortable sharing it of course!), I really liked him when I saw the Show.

I’d definitely at least watch until the end of season 3.
And season 4 has things to recommend it, like “Hush”, pictured above, or Superstar. And, of course, “The Body” is in season 5…

I adore Buffy. My favourite episodes are always the quiet, character-focused ones—stuff like Amends, New Moon Rising, and The Body. The character work in that show is second to none. In fact I’ve gone on record as saying season 5 of Buffy is my favourite series of any TV show!
I think my favourite episode has to be Family. It always makes me sob my heart out.

I just haven’t felt like revisiting anything past 5 for a while. Probably should. Don’t really want to revisit certain events in season 6-7.

yeah fair S6 is pretty dark near the end like holy,but fair,my favorite season is probably 3.

I started to list off episodes I love, but when I’m already at more than a dozen and I’m only up to season 3… Well, it’s a show I do like a lot.
Though it’s not without its flaws. I’ve noticed, for example, if you see a black character in Buffy, they are almost certainly going to die…

I really want to love Buffy.
Once More, With Feeling is one of my favourite episodes of anything, ever (and I still want Doctor Who to do a proper musical episode! Just copy the same premise, an alien that makes people sing their feelings!!)
I’ve seen a few episodes, like that one, and Hush (which is great!) but never watched it properly.
I tried to watch from S1E1 with my mates at uni but we only got a few episodes in and then kinda just stopped.
I’ve heard loads of good things about other episodes but I would rather go in order (it’s my way).
So.. kinda stuck. I’d like to watch it.
But I don’t have time or space in my brain at the moment for other fandoms

Oh, it’s definitely great. People tend to tell people to keep watching after season 1 because it gets better in season 2, but, you know, I still like it in season 1. Sure, Xander has the occasional crush on a hot teacher/mantis person, and when you date online, you could be hooking up with a demon, but solid premise, and some episodes I quite like.
I do agree with watching it in order, because once you get to season 2, well, this is where revival Doctor Who got the whole monster of the week with an overarching plot from.
And, yeah, Hush is brilliant. Buffy gets praised for its dialogue, and they go and write a wonderful episode with mostly no dialogue.
Oh, and shout out to “The Zeppo”. Some people hate this one on first watch, but it’s a brilliant deconstruction once you know what they are doing. I love how the side plot you don’t see much of is what would have normally been the main plot, and how totally over the top they play things, making fun of some of the normal things they do on the show…
Also, got to say, aside from the great main actors, you get some great reoccurring actors, too, like Principal Snyder, played by Armin Shimerman, who also plays Quark! (Especially in “Band Candy”. “Band Candy” was so good…)

We went wayy too far with it haha, we made a film, we made a commentary track, we did a blooper reel, and then we burned a couple of DVDs and sent them in the post to our friends

This is very well-timed as my eldest started watching this yesterday and I joined them for the opening two episodes. It’s quite odd watching this after so many years because it’s very of its time but at the same time feels a bit timeless. Already loving Willow and Giles again.
