Non-Who Shows in the Whoniverse (Headcanons)

With Series 1 of Blake’s 7 getting a Collection remaster, I’ve been thinking about non-Who shows that could very easily fit into the Doctor Who Universe.

Obviously for this list I’m not counting explicit spinoffs (no Torchwood, Class, SJA, etc), just shows that aren’t explicitly related in their premise, but very much feel like they could be.

Well, Sapphire and Steel definitely comes to mind. And Star Trek’s had recent mention and a crossover or two…

Also, Loki felt rather Doctor Who-ish.

Sapphire and Steel was one that came to mind for me too, but I know even less about it than I do Blake’s 7 (i.e. nothing but the name), so wasn’t sure if it did fit or not

Loki definitely felt who-ish, but it’s also very much set in a seperate universe that just doesn’t mesh with the Doctor Who universe at all (Star Trek has it’s own large universe too, but by virtue of being largely set in the future gets past that a bit more)

Well, the intro was:

Time ‘breaking into the present’ was one of the things that would happen in the show.

One of the dvd’s listed one of the episodes as “Escape Through a Crack in Time”!

The cliffhanger at the very last episode of Sapphire and Steel was also very time related…

True. It more did things I would’ve loved to see in Doctor Who. (I want Doctor variants!)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer would be my head canon because I love it, but it already got a sneaky crossover in one of the comics (where the Doctor and Rose are seen walking by in a panel). Camera Obscura also has a reference to Spike the Bloody Awful Poet!

Quite cool as Buffy was one of the shows RTD has said he had in mind when reviving the show!

I’m going to plug any and all variations/iterations of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

I actually remember comparing screenshots of Buffy and Rose and thinking they were pretty similar…

Well of course, Nation wanted B7 to be in the same universe with the Daleks turning up at the end of Series B. Tom Baker and Gareth Thomas also wanted to do a gag where they crossed paths in a corridor.

Sapphire and Steel could work. The agents could be something akin to the Eternals or the beings in Can You Hear Me?

The TARDIS is visible in Red Dwarf.

How could I forget Red Dwarf?!

Red Dwarf 100%. We should have got a Red Dwarf & Doctor Who Children in Need crossover. Also The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy of course, Douglas Adams era Who meeting Arthur Dent etc.

I want both of these to happen so badly!

I’ve got a couple little easter eggs to both in a 13th Doctor story I’m trying to write. :sunglasses:
