Interesting. We just had an audio original with Seven and Ace and two with Fifteen. They’re really focusing on the incumbent Doctor, and I like that.

UPDATE:

Icons 3 has a title, cover and synopsis.

The best stories should never be unwritten…

When a strange signal echoes through time to the heart of the TARDIS, the Doctor follows it to the home of Shirley Jackson.

But the strangeness deepens when they find a sinister figure sowing chaos and discord with the use of a glowing box – encouraging a crowd to murderous deeds.

Catapulted back to Shirley Jackson’s own era by the TARDIS, the Doctor (with the help of the time-struck author) must discover the origins of the box, and the terrible power that it wields . . .

Is it terrible I have no idea who Shirley Jackson is?

Same…

No idea myself. Just looking at her bibliography, I only know one thing from it, and that is because it’s a TV show.

Seriously, Shirley Jackson is great a author and one of my personal favourites! She’s got a unique brand of American horror that mostly focuses on women and often on psychological problems. She’s so good! I’d absolutely recommend reading Hill House (her most famous work) but We Have Always Lived in the Castle is also a masterpiece.

Her short stories are also brilliant. Here’s a link to her most famous– The Lottery:

Oooh looks interesting, I’ll give that a read! I used to really dislike (though was also contradictorily very interested in) spooky stuff when I was younger so never really got to these types of authors/stories (and definitely not from non-Dutch authors). DW already changed that some and these look fun, so seems like a good moment to change it some more. Because I’m not scared anymore of these things nuh uh defnitely not

Yep she’s amazing. I was gonna recommend that story.

Huh. At the start when I read the first sentence I realized I’ve actually heard this story before. I think it might’ve been at school, because I remember someone giving a whole lecture (maybe a bit of an overstatement) about the meaning of it. Still very good though. Was dreading that ending the whole time. Will look into some more of these!

Thank you everyone. I think I’ve heard of The Lottery but not sure I’d heard of The Haunting of Hill House till the series appeared. I will be sure to read The Lottery later.
