Now that does look interesting - a podcast about those things which scarred us for life in the 70s and 80s (Building Sites Bite and the frisbee electrocution - I’m looking at you). Seems like something targetted at my generation and there are some interesting guests on other episodes - Reece Shearsmith, Ian Livingstone (Fighting Fantasy), Stephen Volk (Ghostwatch (talking of things which scar us), Joe Cornish, Jim Howick, Jamie Anderson (son of Gerry who does a lot of work with BF), Charlie Higson.
Here’s the latest episode of David Tennant Does a Podcast With, featuring David chatting with some unknown TV writer named Russell T Davies. It’s bound to be very interesting!
Started listening to Scarred for Life. It feels very much like a radio show and its really interesting hearing Lisa try to explain Doctor Who canon, BF and her role in it to someone who obviously isn’t a fan (although one of the presenters most definitely is as they confess to owning over 1000 BF audios!).
I hadn’t realised his podcast was back till I saw this on the Discord. I haven’t listened to them all but some of the earlier episodes are really good.
Yeah, I think it started last week and I only realised because I was still subscribed to the podcast despite not having listened to it for ages! His chats with Michael Sheen, Ian McKellen and Jodie Whitaker are really good.
Stumbled across this podcast with Doom herself, Sooz Kempner and it’s a really intriguing ‘unsolved crime’ theme with comedy stylings. Very funny (literally laughing aloud as I walked to school).
I wondered if @ChrisStokes had heard of it…
Hope you enjoy it Delta! Not sure if you’re starting at the beginning or jumping around but we shake up the format occasionally and we recently started a new occasional series where Sooz does deep dives into various one hit wonders.
I have started with the first one. I was browsing comedy podcasts and it was there and I thought, I know that man! Any episodes you think are a must-listen?
My favourites are Nish Kumar & the Curious Tale of Clairvius Narcisse, Carl Donnelly & the Formidable Dolly Osterreich, Richard Gere’s Ass Gerbil and Magnus Hirschfeld & the Fate of Dora Richter (amazing story of two amazing people and what the Nazis did to put trans acceptance and research back by decades at least).
There’s also one called The Gentleman of Heligoland where we get massively sidetracked and invent a new game which we still play sometimes even now.
Sounds good (although I’ll take Nish Kumar’s one under advisement as I’m not a fan…(sorry if he’s a friend!!))
He is but don’t worry, none of us are everyone’s cup of tea!
Surprised PROBE hasn’t made the list!
Well I was going to invite you to the soft launch of Nish Kumar’s new Abba themed restaurant. Apparently the tomato omelette is to die for!
I like PROBE - just not this godawful piece of amateur crap I’m watching at the moment. Only about two of the cast can even act (and surprisingly, one of those is Bill Baggs!).
Oh 2015 onwards PROBE… you’ll never be famous
Isn’t it supposed to be:
- Tomatoes
- Nish Kumar
- Eggs
- Abba
- @monkeyshaver being a cheeky bastard
- Scandinavians
Not quite:
- Tomatoes
- Nish Kumar
- Eggs
- Abba
- @monkeyshaver being a cheeky bastard
- @MrColdStream mentioning Scandinavia for the miljoonasosa time.
Okay, respect for actually using a Finnish word, even if it’s grammatically incorrect
