Thanka @littleampersand that’s a very interesting list. Great to see that your recommendations (except Marsfall?) have easily accessible RSS feeds. I get a bit cross with podcasts which are locked to iTunes or Youtube. My podcast app is slurping them in ready to listen to as I type this

Thanks @littleampersand I’ve bookmarked that list for later. Although I don’t know when I’ll have time to listen, as I want to listen to as much Who as I can, but maybe I’ll find a way.

Are any of them quite short?

Starting S2 of Scarred For Life. Love it. Great for some of us oldies here.

Thought I’d resurrect this thread to recommend a couple of non-Doctor Who centric podcasts.

The Final Frontia with drag queen Tia Kofi is really entertaining. Yes there is a focus on Who because Tia is a huge fan of the show, as are many of her guests, but they also talk about a lot of other sci fi and fantasy.

Paul Cornell and Lizbeth Myles have just launched a follow up to their Hammer Horror podcast called Telefantasy Time Jump which is going to work through British telefantasy from 1953 onwards starting with The Quatermass Experiment. A very pleasant listen so far even though I’ve never actually seen any of the Quatermass serials (although I’m very tempted to now remedy that situation).

If you have an interest in television and film production, The Rest is Entertainment with RIchard Osman and Marina Hyde is fascinating:

Nearly all the Goalhanger podcasts are great. The Rest is Politics, The Rest is History, Legacy, The Rest is Classified are all great.

I used to listen to a lot of podcasts, but when the iTunes podcast setup changed, I lost a lot of interest. Back in the day I enjoyed:

  • Joe Rogan (pre-brain rot)
  • The Jim Cornette Experience (still listen to clips on youtube)
  • Nerdist
  • Welcome to Night Vale (stopped after 80 episodes. it’s on my “get back into” list)
  • Diggnation (olllldddd internet)
  • Co-optional Podcast (RIP TotalBiscuit)
  • VGMpire (8/16 bit VGM)

I read this as, “Reimagined by Rory Williams”!

Not Doctor Who but Answer Me This is back with a new episode (and apparently it’s not just a one off this time). If you haven’t heard of it, I highly recommend seeking it out - lots of random questions answered and usually very funny.

I’ve listened to. Many many audio dramas  (46 according to my app, not including ones I’ve dropped). Trying to get a range of genres, some of my favourites are:

I Am in Eskew: horror podcast about David Ward and his life in the city of Eskew. Has some rough audio quality in the first few episodes, but is one of the strongest stories I’ve ever encountered, about fear, change, and hope. Great if you watched Castrovalva and though "Wow, I wish this story focused more on the weird city that doesn’t let you leave.

Wooden Overcoats: sitcom about rival funeral home directors. Incredibly funny and also incredibly heartfelt, with some of the best characters you could ever hope to listen to. I’d highly recommend to Cabin Pressure fans, I think it’s a similar sort of humour (though it’s been a while since I listened to CP)

Kane and Feels: horror noir podcast about two paranormal investigators. Some stunning sound design, great if you finished Ghost Light and thought “Brilliant! I wany more stories that are pretty complex to get into and might require another visit”

Greater Boston: I’m not really sure what genre this is? I’ve heard it described as the Discworld of audio dramas, which is a fantastic way to put it. It’s a sprawling story about the Red Line train system in the American city of Boston, which has voted to become its own independent city. There are cheese robots, crystal balls, political commentary, and an enduring love for community
