The writer slightly exaggerated the viewing figures. After a slow start with Planet of Giants, viewership increased with The Dalek Invasion of Earth. From episode on of Invasion through the end of Web between 10 and 13.5 million[1] watched each episode. In fact, despite vitriol from some fans today The Web Planet averaged just over 12.5 million viewers over the six episodes.
