NEW: Organise your completed dates with the Diary!

It might also be an idea to look a bit differently at new vs older stories. I feel like with new stories we know the release time more often so that one can be counted, and people will generally be able to log them pretty accurately. With older ones it’s harder, I’d say to keep a standard time, but maybe do a separate option to change the time? I feel like if you’re forced to change it every time it gets annoying but to have the option might be nice, especially for everyone who has a time zone significantly different from British time (since I’m only an hour off, I don’t really care for myself)

A few updates. I haven’t implemented time zones yet because honestly that’s a big amount of work.

But what I have done is:

  • You can now save that you’ve seen a story a day ahead of its release, so this fixes the issues for people wanting to say they saw Space Babies on the 10th May, for example
  • However, because all dates are saved as GMT I’d highly recommend that you use the “Release Date” feature, because if I do implement time zones in the future that is going to mess up all your entries. Just imagine that you’re entering the date you saw it in UK time.
  • I’ve fixed the icon in Chrome and Firefox, it now shows the default date icon
  • Some other Safari fixes

I’ll leave it like this for now, it’s not perfect but works if you manage things in a UK-centric way. I’ll look at time zones another time.

4:00pm Pacific Time.

So this doesn’t really affect me too much because 2025 will be new ratings and repeats (if I decide to use that feature). Big Finish you shouldn’t have to worry about. In my experience, even though midnight UK is 4pm the previous day for me, Big Finish stuff doesn’t seem to drop then. It’s only available when it’s actually the day of release in my time zone.

Just checked this out. Not a bad idea. I wonder if there could be a serch function within this so if you want to adjust the date for something you’re not having to scroll through however many pages to find it. Also, is the log a repeat going to Patreon only, or will it eventually become an “everyone” feature?

You can update the date via the Story page, which has a search function - I’d rather not duplicate the functionality there.

It will eventually be for everyone, and is being reworked, but will take a while.

For now, though I archived some stuff, I think I’ll just update the dates for things consumed in 2025 and ignore 2024.

To clarify, this is essentially the prerequisite for doing a “Year in Review” feature? I assume that a “Year in Review” feature would be designed to look at the diary for what a user completed in that calendar year (in this case 2025)?

Yes, exactly

Just spent like two hours scrolling through about 10 months of Discord messages to date all the Torchwood stuff I’ve gone through from May 31st 2023 until I joined the site in March 2024. I forgot how quickly I got sucked in, I was already buying audios a week after I finished the show!

A suggestion for the “edit date completed” menu. This is what it looks like at present:

Is it possible to add something similar to the Goodreads feature of “set to today’s date”?

Another question.

I’m probably just being daft, but is it not possible to see and edit the completion date on the story page on the browser? The completion date is right there under the Save to My List button on mobile, and that’s where you can edit it. But I can’t see this date anywhere on the browser or edit the date except in the diary.

I could add another radio button that says “Today’s date”.

You mean on desktop? It should be in the same place!

Yes, I meant on desktop.

And oh my gosh, I’ve been going crazy while trying to find it, only to notice that it is there, but the text is black in Space Black mode, so it’s barely visible. I’ve simply not been able to see it!

You can barely make it out in the screenshot below.

Ohhh sorry. I need to test out Space Black mode more, I had @AlfieSigma report all problems with the Light mode but forgot about this  I’ll set it as my theme and test it out! Thanks!

No problem! It’s my default theme currently, and I haven’t noticed any other strange occurences with it. But this was a good catch!

Possible problem with the archive function?

I noticed a lot of my stories have a date of early January attached to them, which much be when I ratted them all on the site.

But when I go to my diary they’re not there. (In fact I have nothing in my diary in Jan 24.)

Instead they are in my archive when I click the ‘see Archive’ button. But they still have a date attached to them, and still show up in yearly stats for 2024.

I don’t mean to complain because I love love the new stats function! It’s just something I’ve noticed.

Yeah, this is because I changed how this works - originally if you did a ‘bulk complete’ it saved the date that you did it. Now it doesn’t save a date at all.

So it’s possible to have stuff in your archive that is dated.

This is a bug I believe  I’ll take a look when I can!
