That might be the same thing as a puree? A puree doesnt have to be fruit though
No, puree (almost same word here, Püree) is something different. The one with plums is literally made the same way you’d cook jam/Marmelade, for some reason it’s just called different
Ah. Interesting!
A discussion on preserves coming out of a thread on mail deliveries is the most TARDISguide conversation I can think of
First, I read it as English—what cognitive dissonance! LOL.
Thinking about it, it still makes sense: “die hand” ↔ “Todeshand”. It’s kind of appropriate.
Thanks. That mental twist woke me up better than coffee!
I want to see the Thirteenth Doctor titles!
I wish it was Craig’s ‘Time to Go’ in that episode, so bitter he never got cyber-converted.
You could have rotated it at least, young whippersnapper! Now we have to make an effort to marvel at your deliveries! /j
And the final delivery, in the order I already mentioned twice, arrived.
I have to admit—as much as I’m looking forward to watching The Savages when I restart my First Doctor watch in a few weeks, I’m actually most excited about the non-Who items. In particular, I can’t wait to dive into the Praxis Makes Perfect book by The Cynefin Company, which explores distributed ethnography in theory and practice. I have a real soft spot for the work The Cynefin Company puts out.
Lovely finds! We should make a Book Club for everybody who recently got themselves a Copy of the Target for Fenric!
Or just make the Targets a Book Club Extra?
So at roughly the halfway mark of this trip, I’ve bought…
LONG
Books:
- The Collection - box set of The Nightmare of Black Island, The Stone Rose, The Art of Destruction, and Made of Steel paperbacks (happily, versions with Rose on the covers)
- DWM 617 with The Wheel in Space re-edited Target novelisation
- Titan’s Twelfth Doctor, Year Two, v.6: Sonic Boom
- Twelfth Doctor, Year Three, v.1: The Terror Beneath
- Annual 2007
- Annual 2008
- Storybook 2008
Blu-rays:
- The Collection s2 limited edition
- The Collection s10 limited edition (against my better judgment at £95)
- Series 1-4 (2023 version)
- Dr. Who and the Daleks (StudioCanal 4K/BD deluxe with posters and art cards)
- Torchwood series 1-3 (because it was the easiest way to get the original version of s2 in the cool digipak)
DVDs:
- Series 2, Series 3, Series 4 (because I like the cool sleeves)
- SJA series 1, series 3 (the bastards sold their copy of s2 before I could get to it)
- Series 1 v.1, v.2; Series 3 v.2 (someone pointed out these are the only editions that actually have the original stereo soundtrack)
- The Cybermen Collection (Rise of the Cybermen, The Age of Steel, Army of Ghosts, Doomsday - also in stereo, so effectively 2/3 each of v.3 and v.5)
Non-Who (but mostly sort of Who tbh) DVDs:
- Broadchurch series 1-3 Blu-ray
- The Catherine Tate Show series 2
- Eric & Ernie (Morecambe and Wise biopic by Victoria Wood)
- Denise van Outen’s [1] Pure Dance Workout (for camp value)
- Kylie Minogue - Ultimate Kylie
- S Club 7 - S Club Party Live
I’m so ■■■■■■. I have no idea how I’m going to get all this shit (plus God knows how much else I’ll buy in the next week) home. I’ll probably have to ship some of it.
Almost all of it has been from CEX or Oxfam though, so not too too pricey. The only really big spends so far have been the two Collections and the s1-4 set.
or as the CEX sticker said, Denis Van Outen - presumably her evil twin brother ↩︎
You should get a T-shirt that says “I visited the UK and all I got was this lousy T-shirt (and a buttload of Doctor Who stuff)”
“I visited England and all I got was (list in type so small it can’t be read)”
back: “But not the Brian the Ood T-shirt”
Last of the Gadarene is great stuff. Gatiss getting to write his perfect comfort Who. Sky Pirates is Dave Stone. Nuff said.
I can tell I’m still waking up a bit. Thought I saw “Sexy Pirates!” for the title…
