Discovered an album titled Songs of the Sephardim (Traditional Music of the Spanish Jews) by La Rondinella in my library system while sorting through my For Later Shelf. Popped it in and they’re surprisingly beautiful and yet haunting. Here’s one of them.
Never has video game music been quite so good.
It’s criminal that the only time you hear Penny’s battle theme is during your initial battle with her and rematches at Blueberry Academy.
The Academy Ace Tournament has it’s own inferior theme.
But this? So amazing!
The Gym Battle theme is also amazing - better than Sword and Shield by a country mile.
Great considering it took me five attempts to get through the Psychic Gym… God Damn Tulip and her Florges with Moonblast, sweeping my entire team!
Oh yeah we’re cooking now. I’ve been a Tyler fan since being 16 and getting my ass kicked in Odd Future pits, and his growth as an artist and human has been astonishing. Chromakopia looks like it might be his spin on The Wall by Pink Floyd, a concept album notably about fame, obsession, dictatorship, and the fractured psyche. Getting very similar vibes from this.
My personal favourite of the game’s score is the Sada/Turo battle (spoilers for the final boss of the main game), but I agree, the gym leader battle music is exceptional (although i do love SwSh’s)
