Well sort of. First comes up in Alien Bodies.
They also considered bringing Patrick Troughton back as the Sixth or Seventh Doctor! (I forget whether Colin had happened already when they were discussing this). Interesting that Tennant as Fourteen wasn’t the first time this was floated.
The actor who plays Sylvia Noble also plays God in Torchwood!
I think you guys already know my nichest facts, I have no idea what counts anymore Like if I started talking about even what I consider common knowledge, the average less insane fan would be like huhh??
I guess I’ll offer unto you the reason we have Gallifrey is because Lalla Ward and Louise Jameson became best friends when they did Zagreus <3
I mentioned in another thread but Ellie Martin was originally gonna be samantha jones in the Sarah Jane smith audios
To add to the weird Faction Paradox stuff, in their version of the afterlife called The City of the Saved, those who are converted into Cybermen will remain Cybermen when they die and go to the City, most of them joining a group called The Order of the Iron Soul
This is most probably coz their souls are corrupted curing conversion
Another random fact after looking at the original script of eye of the scorpion called eye of the beetle erinems originally gonna be called hatchepsut my guess is it was written to just be a original historical then we rewritten to be a companion intro story
Yea she was originally meant as just a one off but Gary Russell liked her and thought she worked well with 5 and Peri so decided to make her a companion
Obligatory looms mention
Among all the famous parts of “The Infinity Doctors”, with all it’s Gallifrey Lore and Indeterminate Doctor, it also contains the end of the Sontaran/Rutan war, as a sort of comedy B-plot
Similarly, Lungbarrow has a massive reputation with all it’s lore revelations about the Doctor’s past, but the actual story is a murder mystery
So if someone dies in the Whoniverse, it goes Thijarians → Testimony → City of the Saved. Is there anything else that happens during/after death that I’m missing?
Doctor Who’s real name is Doccy Who
Shame the guy’s kind of a twat on twitter
I know that the reason that everyone finds Captain Jack super attractive is because he’s got pheromones from the future that make him attractive to everyone (TW: Fragments)
But yeah, as for my obscure facts, I think my favourite one is from The Black Archive Sourcebook for the Doctor Who TTRPG, that being that after Second World War, Professor Bracewell was drafted by UNIT, who (of course) treated him pretty badly. After The Battle of Canary Wharf, he was then liberated by UNIT (who he now works for), alongside a post-cyber-conversion Yvonne Hartman, who he was able to construct an android body for (much like his own), and he sees her as a sort of kindred spirit, despite for Torchwood did to him, because of her turning against the cybermen like he did the daleks.
I’ve actually been following his channel for years and his YouTube stuff is a lot of well articulated, funny and entertaining reviews with a very slick editing style and some really niche takes you won’t hear anywhere else.
His Twitter though? No clue, feels like a different guy. It’s all just reactionary vitriol. I unfollowed him on that site when he started taking pot shots at the jeje thread that was going around for a while for being too excited about the show.
Used to the love the channel, but yeah, not a fan anymore.
He stopped watching new Doctor Who after Empire of Death anyway, and it seemed like he was taking shits at people who were still watching it.
Whoops
Not editing because it’s funny though
The fourth doctor’s scarf was not supposed to be that long! The woman knitting it used ALL the wool the bbc gave her, and that’s how we ended up with a 14ft (?) scarf
