Lockdown Who

The COVID pandemic was a pretty scary time, and we were so lucky as fans to have some amazing content produced by the BBC (mostly Emily Cook!) to help get us through.

I’ve just added lots more “Lockdown Who” minisodes to the site!

And yes, now there’s a badge to earn for rating them all!

They are all freely available and pretty short, so this should be an easy one for when you have some spare time. What is your favourite?

Do you have any stories about how Doctor Who helped you through the various lockdowns?

The only one I have any real memory of is Farewell Sarah Jane which absolutely wrecked me :sob::sob:

I didn’t watch/listen to these at the time, but I did enjoy them after the fact. I’ll bash through them in the morning on the train.

I cried watching that… a lot! :sob:

Oh this is just showing me how many of these I’ve forgotten to rate

No, I added a bunch more recently!

Quite frankly, I’m sure you could get us to topple a government if you promised us a badge for our
efforts

The fact that RTD returning to the show along with Tennant and Tate is partly, if not wholly, down to Emily Cook’s tweetalongs still amazes me.

I never took part in the tweetalongs. I had to delete Twitter during lockdown because it just depressed me to read - it was horrid. But the extra scenes were always fun. The first one with Jodie where she’s hiding in the cupboard was so simple and yet so energising.

My overriding lockdown memory though is doing a Doctor Who quiz via Zoom. My friends and I won and we dedicated our win to our friend’s dad, a Doctor Who fan, who had died during the pandemic, missing the birth of his granddaughter. It seemed only right.

Aaaand I’m done, only took an hour and 40 odd minutes. Wanted to be the first to get the badge but it looks like someone else got there before me.

I never actually watched these during the lockdown, it was only after that I even found out they existed. It was fun revisiting them though and I found a few I didn’t even know existed. The Secret of Novice Hame surprised me for example. Doctors Assemble! is still one of my favourites of the bunch.

Overall good fun, and I can imagine it helped a lot of people through lockdown, especially the messages from the Doctor.

One of my memories from lockdown was musicians going and performing songs live from their homes. My favorite was probably getting this…

My main memory of lockdown is listening to soooooooo much Big Finish. And then Gallifrey Time War 3 came out and my thing for Gallifrey exploded from ‘this is fun’ to ‘OBSESSED FOREVER’

I still go back and revisit Farewell Sarah Jane at least two or three times a year. Such a beautiful piece.

We might need to do that, depending on how that one election next week turns out…

Oh yeah I played a LOT of Animal Crossind during lockdown. Totally burnt myself out of it and haven’t played since (except a bit of the expansion).

I really want them to make a new one so I can get obsessed with that next

While I wasn’t a fan yet in lockdown, I actually only discovered doctor who due to covid, because I started watching it when I caught it the third time and had nothing to do on my own.
Anyway, finished the set now, some very sweet things in there
