I've never heard of Doctor Who, how did I get in here?

I have a little too much time on my hands lmao

Bizarrely I found out somewhere recently (I think on GB) that some in the younger generations find a thumbs up to be passive aggressively rude! I couldn’t work out why!

Right there with you! I’m not assigned to a project at work at the moment, so I am sitting around with nothing to do (and hoping to get a project before I get a pinkslip).

There’s a reason I replied to like 39 threads the day I joined the forum.

As someone younger (22) it’s that it feels a bit like just an ‘okay.’

If I’m trying to make plans with someone, I’d rather they say a ‘sounds good’ or something like that to show a bit more engagement rather than just a thumbs up

Yeah, I definitely use the thumbs up emoji when I’m too lazy or tired to engage properly. I don’t think it’s sarcastic or passive aggressive, though.

I second @JayPea: the thumb is often interpreted as a kind of passive or indifferent form of agreement. It leaves you wondering “What are they actually thinking about this?”

I’d add there that I often use :eyes: to kind of acknowledge when someone is taking the Mickey out of me, kind of like a “death stare” mostly this is to @deltaandthebannermen

I don’t find :+1: to be passive aggressive at all. Maybe if it was sent to me as a text message I might think it a bit lazy, but honestly it’s a quick way of saying “yes”. As a tapback on a message or a reaction, I think it’s fine to use!

Oh and we are thinking of removing some of the lesser-used reaction emojis, maybe  (people usually use :confetti_ball:) to add a cheeky :k9:

I’ve done it, the clapping is gone, long live K9 :k9:

Can we have a Movellan next? :mirror_ball:

The K-9 emoji is obviously positive because it comes with the mental sound of him saying “Affirmative!” for me.

Most posts are improved by a cute robot dog! You could also use it to mean “Affirmative, Master!” if you want.

I may be biased on this point. The K9 emoticon is mine…

This was a good explanation, thank you and affirmative!

No problem! This is actually what the K9 picture looks like before being shrunk down to emoticon size:

Now when we have :k9: we need to figure out what Who stuff we can change the others to

 - :two_hearts:
:+1: -
 -
:confetti_ball:-
:hugs: -
:hushed: -
:exploding_head: -
:sob: - 10 in rain
:rage:-

:star_struck: -
:eyes: - weeping angel?

I don’t know why but my first thought for  was the creepy fella in the room full of ventriloquist dummies in God Complex.

Also the angry face should absolutely be the Brig.

Someone else gets to draw them, though…
