Started series 2, and I sadly didn’t click with the first episode. I feel like a rewatch of Warriors Gate before listening would’ve been essential which tells you how bad it is at reintroducing everyone. Felt like a 2nd or 3rd story in an E-Space set.

I did the first of these, Emancipation, yesterday. River and Leela together are truly such a delight, they work far better together than one might imagine from a kind of random pairing. The story itself was rather simple but it showed them both of wonderfully

I really liked The Turn Of The Tides from this series. I think it was because it was the first thing Big Finish did involving someone from The Sarah Jane Adventures and it was a lot of fun.

The Big Blue Book: didn’t really like this one much. Ace and Benny are an incredible combination but with Benny out of the action for most of it that became kinda pointless. Didn’t help that the voice of the villain and the general design of the sound was rather painful tonlisten to

Inside Every Warrior: starting to think I should listen to the Paternoster Gang’s audios as I do really like Vastra and Jenny a lot. This audio was delightful but nothing extraordinary

Narcissus: I thought this was an interesting story really playing with the core of these characters and what they want

Stolen Futures: the time for Romana just after leaving the Doctor but before she becomes president is one of the most unexplored for her so it was really nice to dig into that a bit. The story feels very reminiscent of Warrior’s Gate, in tone too. And it is very cute to hear Louise Jameson talk about directing in the behind the scenes

Prism: didn’t really like this one, mostly I think I had trouble keeping some of the voices apart which made the plot very hard to follow but also I just thought it was boring

Finally finished this range with the last boxset. I think the Missy and Amy story was good and alleviated my complaint from the last set. Was wondering why Mels or Rory weren’t mentioned; seemed a perfect spot to mention Mels too. A Ghost of Alchemy was good; very in line with the actiony Fourth Doctor books like Corpse Marker. I maybe want to relisten to the other sets, partly for the Jenny story.

The Turn of the Tides: I thought this one was just lovely. Jo is just always such a joy to me and to have her meet Rani again is even better

I think I might’ve hallucinated having heard Eighth of March Vol 1. Or it’s disappeared from my library. Disturbing. Guess I know what to wait for in the sales. I know I’ve heard at least the first story in the set. I think.
A Ghost of Alchemy: I enjoyed this one a lot. It’s written by Louise Jameson herself and while it’s no Phantom Pregnancy [1] she’s crafted a beautiful historical very much in the spirit of this boxset. I love Leela 
episode written by her in The Omega Factor that makes me ■■■■■■■ insane ↩︎

Fairies at the Bottom of the Garden: now, teenage Amy and Missy is a combination that only Big Finish could come up with, but oddly, it really works. Especially the scene with Missy posing as Amy’s therapist was just so funny to me
