Information about McCoy/Aldred 'Time Gash' audio?

Hello!

I’m researching the many, many variants of the Doctor, and hope that the fandom hive mind might be able to provide information about a few that I’m stuck with…

Does anyone have any information about the following:

  • Time Gash (!): a couple of audio plays recorded in 1994 and starring Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred, similar to but predating the Dominie stories. One seems to have been based around Jack the Ripper and featured Mark Gatiss as a guest villain. Apparently the Who Shop holds the master tapes, but haven’t been able to tell me more.

I’m also in the market for leads about any other similarly super-obscure apocryphal Doctors that anyone might be aware of!

Thank you

I suspect no information exists because these never existed. Republica and Island of Lost Souls (Professor and Ace) were the first McCoy and Aldred audios.

Theoretically I have the names of some of people involved on the production side, but they’re ‘relucant to talk’, etc, so who knows

In 1994, Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred, and Mark Gatiss were all in P.R.O.B.E: The Zero Imperative, involving several murders. Are you sure we aren’t talking about P.R.O.B.E?

There was also the fan film Time Rift (writer Jon Blum played the 7th Doctor with a recast Ace), which has a suspiciously similar title.

Dylan Rees, the author of Downtime: The Lost Years of Doctor Who, told me that he’d found out about ‘Time Gash’ after his book was published, and gave me the name of someone who was involved.

It could be a massive wind-up on the part of the latter, but I’m not sure what they’d get out of it. Plus, the details about the Who Shop, etc, seem weirdly specific if it isn’t true :man_shrugging:
